While I don't pretend to be an expert, here's my guess: speaker in passenger footwell looks off, non-original leather seats, 85mph speedo, photos taken while sitting in the rain meaning how long and how often was it left in the rain, and lastly it's a 2vi.

Car is a 1982....centre console and guages support this.........yet speedometer is the 1980 model year only 80 MPH Unit................"Danger Will Robinson,Danger,Danger"!!!!!

Its a 2vi with the dreaded sodium valves............reputation for oil burning,etc............Do you really want more reasons????

THERE IS NO SUCH THING,I REPEAT,NO SUCH THING AS A CHEAP FERRARI!!!!!

1981's NA editions, ALSO had the 85 mph speedo. Do not know about the '83's as I don't have one.

    Just to clarify.

The gauges and VIN support the 1983 date. The seats most definately have been recovered and not in the original pattern like I had done.

The speedo is correct for the 82 US market car.

Body looks good with deep spoiler and wheel upgrade.

Has a ding guard inserted in the body belt line.

Has crappy seat covers, big speaker and amp in passenger foot well, blacked out shelf, no engine bay pics, no mention of service history, sitting outside in the rain.

Because it's just another 2v-i car on ebay with a starting bid in the low end of QV territory?

This car has definitely been for sale for quite a while. I always keep an eye out on Ebay and other places for 308's, and I've seen this one relisted many times for about a year and a half now. In the beginning, it had a buy it now for $31 or $33K (I can't remember exactly) and the seller seem to hold pretty firm at that price for a long time. Bids at times reached around $26-$27K, but reserve was never met.

Later last year, the bidding opened up at $25K with a reserve and it had a buy it now for $29K. Bidding took place and didn't meet reserve. Towards the end of last year, the price was lowered to what it is now, and there doesn't seem to be any takers. If I remember correctly, I think it technically did sell a couple of times, but it seems that the buyers backed out for some reason.

The car looks good and seems to be pretty clean! I like the larger front spoiler, the rear engine lid spoiler and the wheel upgrade. However, I agree with John M......the amplifier and subwoofer in the passenger's footwell is a turn off and needs to be removed! The seats look absolutely horrible! They may be "real" upholstery on the seats, but they look like slip over seat covers that you buy at Walmart! He also needs to get the car out in a better background and take some nice detailed pictures of it! Show pictures of the receipts, engine compartment, headliner, etc. Bottom line is that he needs to promote it better!

However, the car may be a bit "tainted" now. I think people are getting a bit "tired" of it since it's been for sale for so long. People automatically think that something major must be wrong.

Maybe you experts can chime in, but I think that mid-$20K is right in the range for a decent 2V car?? I know that there are some QV's in that price range, but usually those are bit on the rougher side as far as condition.

I think it's getting into the right price range. $25k for that car would be good, if it has decent maintenance history and a major service in the last year or two.

Needs a paint job, I called and spoke to owner. A few other repairs needed as well,
can't remember exactly what because I don't want to deal with a complete repaint at that price.

If it needs repaint, they need to get under $20k to sell, I think. My 1980 gtsi was $23,400, but it had a fresh major, full service history, a ten-year old repaint, euro bumpers, and some suspension and exhaust upgrades. Fwiw...

Well.......there's the answer on why this car hasn't sold! $25,999 plus needing a paint job knocks it out of the reasonable price range. The seller should really disclose that in his auction description. The paint looks very nice in the pictures though......I definitely couldn't tell from looking at them.
