Why haven't you read Velostrada, FerrariChat's online magazine?

  1. I didn't know it even existed.

  2. I'm not interested in a Ferrari-related online magazine.

  3. I've read it once or twice, but it didn't do anything for me.

  4. I've read it once or twice, but am not aware of when new issues are published.

Since May of this year, Rob has provided Velostrada, a monthly online magazine, free of charge to all F-Chat users. Though FerrariChat.com has over 20,000 registered users (approximately 8800 of which have been active in the past 30 days) and averages 10,000 unique visits per day, Velostrada pulls off a mere 2000-2500 views each month. After six months with little change, it's time to review our methods to see why so many users have never even checked it out.

Please vote in the above poll only if you are not a regular Velostrada reader. For those have been reading each month, feel free to post any comments in this thread, as we'd also like to hear your suggestions and/or crticisms.

If you'd post the new bikini pics each month, I'm sure you'd get more views.

I love Velostrada...great concept, great execution, good chance for members to contibute. If anyone might find an account of my 330 2+2 repair and reconditioning jobs interesting, maybe I'll write a piece.

How about giving it it's own sub forum. I always seem to get into looking at my normal sections and somehow forget about it. Very informative and entertaining though!

I actually never realised what it was up until maybe 3-4 months ago.....but now I check it out every month.

How about sending all users (or at least the active ones) an email/PM to alert them, as I'm sure many either don't notice or forget.

For me, some of the articles are too short as they do not truly educate via background and build up from there. Also, the Web mastering is horrible as it does not follow a std 800x600 screen size and i HATE scrolling left to right.

i like what Rob is trying to do, and i understand finding quality writers is a task unto itself, but in the end...

More detail: Michael Sheehan's stuff is great! Wish he'd go into more detail, yet quality is better than quantity.

Jonathan Bird's article is excellent, gives good details and is well written.

With apologies, John Arba's article should never have been published. It is lacking in so many ways. It is a fluff piece at best without any real, hard, factual data. My apologies John, but it was fluff at best and never should have been published.

I find it really good, well the most patr of the time :)

WOW,,,, very nice. I just knew that it was here about three hours ago and now, I finished every issue. Pictures are very nice but I wish it could be enlarged for keep. Now, can't wait for the Novermber issue....

I believe Rob and FerrariChat.com is ready for printing magazine. I launched a web site www.HiSoParty.com about three years ago and it was an instant hit in Thailand and it continues to be one of the top popular web site in Thailand. The site is presented as an online magazine covering event, fashion, beauty, people of the Thai higher society. We have probably most advertisers from major brands than other sites in the country. With all these success, we luanched our printing 300 pages magazine this past May. It was responsed very highly with major advertisers continues from our web to our magazine. I see the same patern as for FerrariChat.com to serve your readers and sponsers... IMHO

    Read it twice.

Found the self serving mea cupla articles from "reformed" members here a little too much to take, so haven't been back since.

Probably just me, but I'd rather read about cars, drivers, etc., than about members seeing the light.

Yep, ditto on this. Hopefully the content will expand, but what I saw in the first few issues didn't make me want to come back. I guess I'll take another look.

I think it can only be a lack of awareness. Velostrada is an excellent magazine and it gets better with each issue.

Dave - I think the mea culpa pieces only appeared in the first issue or so.

Check out the latest issue. Anyone who is interested in Ferraris will love Velostrada. Ed Niles' and MS's contributions are great, as are those from Wayne and Erik. I think the 250 SWB 2733 GT piece will have any car nut on the edge of his/her seat.

All we need now is for Count Volpi to become a regular contributor.

Thanks, Steve! I agree with both points and am working to make imnprovements in these areas. The Web mastering has been a process of trial and error, as I've never created a Web page from scratch before Velostrada. I have been making improvements along the way. Do me a favor and let me know if you still have to scroll left-to-right when viewing this test page (first page only):
