Wow! That's an intelligent response! Please explain, how can you draw the conclusion that this man is a "Biggot" or that the supports the KKK?
A little harsh..no? I think Bruce is just hitting upon a trend the appears to be happening with the site. Which is sometimes a good thing to point out. I think it's just a general observation, not really regarding that particular post but that one may have been the last straw for him. Yes I agree that it was all in fun, and yes he had a choice not to veiw it. But this type of thing pops up in other threads really no matter what section you happen to be viewing. It's not really a major issue, just one that can get a bit annoying when you see stuff like this almost everyday, from a place you used to really like to visit. Sort of like your favorite waitress or waiter leaveing you favorite bar or resteraunt...just doesn't feel the same..
Sigh, it seems that for most on this site, "Ferrari" was a common theme... everyones view of it is thru different eyes, be it sexual, financial, performance, 0-60MPH, technical/engineering whatever... it was about THE CAR. Tolerance here has been huge, but may have been strained past limits.... Offenders don't have to go to extremes such as yesterday, it's more insiduous than that... constant criticism towards P4 resto, lack of respect for different views spilling out of political discussions, whatever.... What offended me the most was the lack of respect, #1, and the macho posturing /threats of violence #2. Having grown up in a neighborhood with GREAT racial diversity, and tolerance based upon common issues and respect, voilation of these two basic issues would have been enough to find you in the morning in a pool of vital body fliuds, blending with the asphalt. That's not some smack talk on an internet forum, that was reality, bro. We will never get any further, towards any resolution of personal (friendships) or technical (engine runs bad..needs new plugs) problems as long as these members, subscribed or voluntary contributors, behave like they are doing now...... I'm weighing in with BRUCE and Mike P. on this one, and I'm one who has endured the exodus of most of my compatriots over these type issues as they occurred earlier in this site's existence.... "it's just the internet" is a catch all defense of your generation's lack of respect, and it doesn't wash with me.. I don't think you can play the race card on me, either. I've got too many good friends on both sides of the tracks, having lived on both sides myself....... your $20 subscription, along with your new Ferrari keys, failed to purchase any class.............
......so go on Downtown, act like a "playa". I'll be watching ya' go down, on the news,.....from a more sophisticated viewpoint.... that's what Ferrari used to stand for...when they were rare.....
Ok, I'll chime in....... Bruce, your points are well taken. But first let me point out a bit of etiquette, when someone types in all caps it translates to shouting. Since you seem genuine and mature I don't think that is the way you want to deliver your message. It is in your best interest to take the caps lock off. This is a quick computer 101 lesson. I too have caught a lot of posts you are discussing. I don't like them... but mainly because they're a pain to try and read and a waste of time. I recognize that I chose to read it, so I move on. Truth is I'm pretty new to this board but I showed my support by subscribing "Rossa 5 yr" and hoping it continues to be a good resource. So, I read just about every new thread to see where I need to settle into. I wasn't watching this board during the "good old days" so I have nothing to compare to. But, one thing is clear, it is going to be all of us who make this a good place to hang out and learn and help each other. That means we need people like you to stay active and help form a personality for fchat. I can't think of a better place to try. I hope, like you, that a little more tech help and a little less "hey what you watching on tv" occurs. For example, I posted several tech / Ferrari related questions and I want to thank the FEW who responded. But if I started a thread asking to guess my wifes' bra size I bet I'd have over 50 replies. Maybe we just need some balance and it's people like you that will bring it. For you Rob, I've said it before, Thanks - and this in no way means I don't like the Bikini thread .... Keep up the good work.....see you guys around the board.
Ah thanks speedy. Remember the CARS??? not just Ferrari but Primarialy Ferrari????? and for examples of Bruce for those who think they can jump to conclusions due to one word... http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16915 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14651 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17384 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=245855 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14922 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14754 There are Acres and acres of others on the old board. and before anyone makes more CAPS comments HE TALKS LIKE THIS TOO ONLY LOUDER WITH A JERZY ACCENT
Well, thanks writerguy! That's high praise, coming from you... I fear Ferrari has been diminished to a prop, in a MTV rap video.... a poor reflection on all the brave men who've died in them ...driving for glory....
Hmm. Are you anywhere near aware of how stupid this post makes you appear, trollboy? You can't even spell bigot, but you accuse someone of being one; threatening to bring your "shot gun," whatever the heck that is. Try to spell it "shotgun" the next time you post such trash. Or at least wait until you are out of junior high.... To quote you directly: "Please leave and never come back."
Ah, the advantage of the ignore function. All I had to do was put three damfool yankee 360 owners on ignore, and all the noise went away. Bliss.....
This is getting ridiculous! Bruce and Brad are BOTH GREAT GUYS, but are two VERY DIFFERENT individuals! This board would not be the same without Bruce's priceless advices, but I would never have had so many good times, good friends and good memories without Brad's and many NY TriState "gangs'" enthusiasm and humor. The NY Tri State Gang is like a "family", its one of those things in life that you have to be there to appreciate the humor. Yeah, we are all relatively young, in our late 20s (except for Keith, Clyde and Sam which shall remain ageless), but by no means are we "rookies". We didn't grow up with a silver spoon in our mouth and most of us built our success through hard work, integrity and honesty. Please don't use our age or how long we've been on F-Chat as away to discount our posts. The real issue here is that, when you have an issue with someone's post, please PM that person tactfully instead of a full blown criticism on the board. I think most of us would respect a nice and friendly request. (Speaking of tactfulness, doesnt a person become more tactful as he/she gets older?) Both Bruce and Brad are a very important part of the F-Chat community. Therere plenty CPU disk space (right Rob?) around for all of us. liFE is 2 sHorT, liVe anD LeaRN oh wait, did I just offend someone?
Sounds like you've got a lot on your mind. Maybe you should think a little bit harder before you make statements like this to someone you know nothing about.
Holy Crap!! ...Don't mean to change the topic but Bruce, can I still buy a case of AAA battery for that price? Man, I go through AAA about a case a week with my armband walkman.
Nobody is using age or post count to discount your posts. However, I respectfully request the right to openly discount your posts if they are stupid. Respectfully again, I think we can all agree to keep private matters private, provided that the trI StaTE GaNG keeps their inside jokes... inside. Offend? No way man. But if you purposely want to insert noise into your communications, or otherwise suggest to the people reading your post, "Don't read this sentence, because it is probably stupid," then I suppose that's your prerogative. --Mike
I simply have quit "General" and "Off Topic". You get rid of 99% of the crap that way. I'm only here today because I'm at home with the flu, bored, and they're showing Nascar on Speed. Big problem with quitting "General" is that I miss important announcements from Rob. I was probably the last to know about the subscription options, despite visiting my sections several times per day.
Bruce and me have talked a few times under some threads and he seems like more than a grade A guy! Maybe Bruce saying something will lead to changes? for the better? and maybe Buttuz post should have had a home under off topic....Buttuz your funny but i understand any complaints... there is a time and place for everything Bruce stick in there! We need ya! (not just for great discounts on batteries) hahahah Best Regards -jt
The conversation seems to be straying from the key points, IMO. Mike Procopio's first post in this thread was particularly astute... but let me try to condense it further... though Mike's post was really quite to the point. Signal-to-noise is different for each F-Chatter. Signal-to-noise largely determines people's continued participation. F-Chat needs participation from good people or it dies. As good people leave, signal-to-noise falls further, then more leave... vicious cycle leading to death of the community. Large communities have died that way... including a F-Chat predecessor. Some guys bantering in a small group is no big deal. I'm a member of a small group of track guys... lots of banter %-wise... but not a problem because its small. If it was huge like F-Chat, it would be overwhelming. The "inside joking" in Tri-State suddenly poured out all over F-Chat... 99.9% of F-Chatters just saw a boatload of unintelligible gibberish... not humorous... not useful... just annoying noise. That is VERY bad (see #1-3 above). As a community who wants to preserve F-Chat, we must come down hard on noise-generation... we are too big now not to. See #4 along with #1-3. Brad, in another thread, seemed to apologize for that out-pouring of his little joking around... he admitted it went too far... at least, as best I could tell... I didn't really follow everything he said. But he seems an okay guy; but I will agree that it would help if he confines the gibberish to posts specifically to others who speak gibberish. Bruce is a fine example of the type of Ferrari expertise and general helpful people that we most need to retain for the health of F-Chat... and not just his rare participation, but his ongoing active participation. Hence, if he plans to drop away, it is useful to us as a community to know why... so that we can work at fixing that if possible. But it is true that there will be some people who will leave for reasons that we either cannot or do not want to fix. And to those, we can only say farewell. Let's please avoid any further personal attacks. Those are against F-Chat policy. Let's please avoid comparing Bruce vs. Brad, or any other people. That is not the right way to approach the issue. We want to figure out how all Ferraristi can participate... as best we can, anyway... we must accept that this has become a large community, and certain rules and restrictions on behavior come with that.
Wow i went to work again and have come back to see a lot of animosity against me and the tri state crew. #1 I have no problem with bruce at all he has a right to go public with the way he feels like anyone else. I am not mad that he did this in any way. #2 yesterday was a whole athor ball game i was directing foolishness to the whole world but in my defense i had apologized and said i would not be going out of my element again. instead if you look at it in the right way i was only bringing the fun and games into the tri state area and in two threds where my friends are and we were going back and forth with eachother. so cal and northern cal wanted to join in the fun so we kept it between us in one thred thats it i did not veture anywere else on the forum except in my home land. Is that wrong to do? if you take a good look at the tri state area we hold more gatherings then anywere else we meet eachother for lunch we meet eachother to go for a ride we meet eachother for dinner we give eachother rides to classic coach when our cars are down we film eachother twice a month we are so hands on with eachother i have never seen a internet friend ship like ours not saying you guys dont have that. But i feel super comfertable with these guys and these guys are my family maybe you should give us a little slack we did not mean to hurt anyone and i truly am sorry about yesterday. But today I kept it it the tri state. Carbon i want your view and believe me i will not be upset with you takeing side witch i already know that you will be against me in this one but plese take it all in and see that i made the mistake yesterday but did keep the giberish to my side of the tracks.today as for the spelling comment sorry we all did not finish school. and i realy dont care about looking smart to play the part. by the way love the new avatar black is the only color for the enzo
Sounds like you're on the right track, Bradley. Stand-up thing to apologize and all. And don't feel bad--you're not the only one who thought something would be fun and wasn't, ya know. My "No Rules" Bikini Thread over in the Rossa forums didn't go over so well, either . --Mike
*and another rushes to the tri-state forum to see what's going on there* edit - after a quick visit, indeed that section is terribly annoying. All the frickin gang signs yo homie get old real quick. Will keep on skipping!
Rob: My bad. Me thinks he was offended by my "Fattest Chick in-a-Ferrari" survey. (By the way, Jimpo was the winner with his 300# mansierre)
