THANKS FOR THE REMINDER!! GET OUT THERE EARLY!!

    Been there .Going back.

That early is about the only time here in AZ that is comfitorable to train.
    PS...It is 121 degrees today!!!!

Next Friday I'll have the "luxury" of flying in the heat 10 am till 2 pm X- country.Well at least the $$$ for training is not the issue.
Density altitude is definatly a factory for the next 9 weeks!!

Here in Albuquerque it doenst get that hot because of the altitude. The field elevation is about 5800 ft. Its usually around 70 F at 6am, warming to the 80's later in the monring. Recently we've been having highs in the high 90s, which is above average. Youre definately right about watching that density altitude. It's usually like 7,800 when i get weather a little after 6! Its not uncommon to read accident reports where pilots unfamiliar with flying at high altitudes and/or in hot weather who just go right off the end of a runway, or get a little off the ground and then fall right back into it because they expect their plane to perform like it does at sea level. The only downside about flying so early is theres no wind yet so I dont get much practice with crosswind landings. I usually go out later on weekends and theirs plenty of wind.

Yea I flew to Showlow AZ (higher altitude area) w/ 3 people in the plane and reduced fuel .The result was the "stall warning" eeeek!! as I lifted off and ever so slightly lowered the nose built up a couple more knots and climbed out very slowly. We were also taking off from there around 1-2 pm (hotter)Not the most comfitorable feeling but a good lesson......Doable yes, sugested DEFINATLY NOT!!

I know I,ve been to Albuqueque 3 times the weather is significantly cooler.
I never flew there. Yea theres a kinda trade off .If I want to practice X-wind landings Ive got to be willing to fly 10-5 (when the heat is brutal) at the moment. As I think about it 3 or more trips around the pattern would be about the max I would do before I became totally dehydrated. There is a "cool" jacket I have that has flexable coolant I could wear to offset some of the heat............
