well not as good as a 365 GTC4 but better than most fuel injected ferraris. With a tubi kit is even better! I was a musician so i am a lover of sound and the reason I love ferrari's is the heart of every ferrari is the engine and I love the sound of a good engine. Of course this is all subjective.....

    better than a Volvo :p

But, "Hey! - who cares?" ;) Right?

Maybe you need to drive one to be able to appreciate Roberts POV.

    "original design" ?

What do you get when you combine these two vehicles pictured below?

The GTB/GTS, (like Robert has said), is the result of the evolution of these two previous models. It flows from one generation to the next. You get something new, and sometimes you lose a little of the past.

The GT4 was the first 308. And that was the milestone. The transverse mounted 3.0 V8. Combine that with the beauty of the 246 and update it with the (at the time) modern angular lines of the newer generation of cars (like the Pantera et al), and you get the beauty of the GTB/GTS.

I can't knock the beauty of the 308GTB/S. I wouldn't. It's a beautiful car. Although, I think I still prefer the look of the 246.

But I think it was a progressive step from one car to the next. Not a totally original design.

Uh...I have a dry sump Euro GTB; I guarantee you Robert's car does not sound better than that ;-)

Well... I dunno..... that all depends.

Is your POV as neutral (a) perspective as Roberts? :p

Perhaps this is a good opportunity for a couple of YouTube vids wo we can compare. ;)

Then of course, there's mine... But we'll have to wait until it's put back together to hear it.

And I can guarantee you that mine is "at least" as loud (if not louder) and unmolested a "308 sound", than either of your two cars.

Part of the "issue" with the Dino is where the air intake scoop is located; it's both larger and closer to the ear (especially in a RHD car) on a 308 GTB/S, and there is no air box insulation on a true euro car, though it's certainly easy enough to remove on a U.S. car. I.e. all else being equal, you're going to hear the induction roar more in a 308 GTB/S.

Yes, the induction roar from carbs does make a difference.

And I apologize too. I took a quick peek at your profile before posting, but when I saw, "No-FCars - who cares?" (even though it's on the bottom of the page), it kind'a jumped out at me and I didn't bother to look any further. I made an assumption - and obviously  was wrong. My bad.

When I bought mine, it had two 18" glass-packs for a muffler. That makes the exhaust note extremely loud. But... kind'a cool sounding too! :D I changed that to a Magnaflow to save my ears, but I may put the glass-packs back when I reinstall the engine - hopefully next month. It's fun to sound (a little) like a Formula 1 zipping onto the freeway. :p

I've had the air-box off mine and you're right, that makes a big difference too. In fact, I'm thinking about putting (or making, since I can't find any for sale anywhere) velocity stacks with screens on too. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I need to get the gearbox mated back to the block and get it back in the car still. Soon though... very very soon...

I wasnt trying to start a fight just a cheerleader for the GT4. I work on my car and the extra clearance is what I like. I also think the GT4 has the best dash of any ferrari period! :)

Plus for the price of a 328 you may be able to but 2 GT4's or buy one and get a new paint job and new interior!

No worries, David :) And, Robert, glad you love your little Dino ;-) They're all cool cars in their own ways and that's why it's fun, IF feasible, to have more than one...so you can vary your experiences a bit on any given day/drive. Notice how I have a 308 and a 328...not say a 288 GTO and a 365BB -- defnitely NOT feasible for me!

    All,

I had these 2 cars in my garage and if i had to pick it would be the dino. I was amazed at the lack of visibility out of the boxer, even front. For those of you who have not sat in or driven a GT4 all you see out of the front is the road no fenders no nothing and some whow with the buttresses designed the way they are you have almost 360 visibility with only a small blind spot to the side. Dont get me wrong I think the boxer is one of the best looking cars ever. I just need a complete package that will satisfy all of my demands.

Now if i only had some pom poms, well maybe us GT4 guys can build a human pyramid at CI some year!! HAAAA

Alex Leventhal also has a GT4 in Azzuro and a 365 Boxer in Blu-Dino-Met. Although, you see more of his GT4 on here than the Boxer.

BB or BBi, my absolute favorite (besides a 288 GTO).

I've owned a 308 GT4, and although I enjoyed it, I'd give up a bit of rearward visibility for a Boxer in a heartbeat.

    +1 :D

365 BB or a 246 Dino. Either one for me.

Question (just for curiosity): How does the leg-room in the Boxer compare to the GT4 Dino?..... or to the GTB/S for that matter?
