Why is Kimi in the #3 car and Massa in #4 for 2009?

    I thought the driver with the most points from the previous season is always the senior driver. Shouldn't Massa be #3 with the red T-bar based on last season's point standings? I know he gets half the pay of Kimi, but it would at least be nice to see him get the respect he earned after last season's performance.

    Interesting, so we still don't know for sure it seems. He does deserve #3 based on last year's performance.

    I think March/Ram had a #13 and 14 - but this was 25 years ago.
    Back then, Lotus or McLaren had 11-12, and Renault had 15-16.

    I thought if Ferrari didn't take #1 and #2, then they would take #11 and #12, or #27 and #28 ?

    Those days must be gone forever, WDIK ?

    Massa and Kimi swap numbers, with Massa now taking number 3 in line with his higher position in the 2008 drivers’ championship.
    Other changes :

    Pit lane speed limit raised to 100kph

    Drivers will be able to pit under the safety car without penalty, but must activate a reduced speed mode on the ECU.

    Who's got what number isn't that big a deal. Rememeber 93? Senna had 8 and Andretti had 7.

    Why are there no cars numbered 18 and 19? Williams is 16 and 17, Force India is 20 and 21, and Brawn is 22 and 23.
    In the original list (top of thread), Honda had 18 and 19 reserved.

    Is this because Force India didn't want to change their numbers? That would be my guess, but wondering if anyone knows for sure.
