Censors are apparently a little more strict here than on other car forums. At least in some cases. I saw some really grotesque pictures of a teenage girl with "head trauma" from a Porsche crash here, that were not posted elsewhere. Other sites have a lot more risque content though.

Did a Mod delete my post in this thread? Why? I think I was after post #12 at 4:31am.

All it said was that I noticed on the Fchat.com/forum front page it didn't sensor the name when showing the latest thread to get a post.

I also had an attachment, will this post get deleted too?

Does anyone not understand why we block IMG tags? I've said it many times before, but maybe it has been awhile. I get grief about IMG tags until they hear my reason.

Cool. What else can I tell you to do? :D

I understand about the IMG tags.. I just leave them on my board because the amount of porn that gets posted there would give my server a heart-attack if it had to process each 1200x1400 image everytime someone loaded a page. ;)

Car porn ages more gracefully than other porn anyway. Not many want to look at "last decades" styles in that other porn. :)

I understand blocking curses. And I understand deleting threads that blatantly advertise competition. And I understand banning users who continually circumvent those rules.

But why block the words associated with competition...? And how is eCirkit.com competition...?

Would you place a billboard on the front of your building advertising the competition? I certainly would not. Would Ford Motor Company put GM car flyers in its lobby? Would GE slip Philips Light Bulb ads in its annual stockholder reports? How about this one? Would your food store give you coupons for a discount at the competition's store? Does ABC run ads for CBS?

    [size=+2] OF COURSE NOT![/size]

No different here. Why should Rob let the bandwith he pays for be used to advertise someone who might reduce his viewing audience and thereby lower the number of clicks his sponsors might get.

Tricky devil... circumventing the e*i*k*t.com filter that way.

*******.com is a site for car guys, regular guys, and even (GASP) guys like you and me. So far I'm mostly confused by it, but perhaps my ancient addled brain just doesn't get it. Why is it competition? Gotta ask Rob that one. Maybe it's not so much that it's competition, maybe it's that it's been pushed pretty hard here. PERHAPS if you were a sponsor here... :D

I think Dave mostly covered it, but would Fox News let CNN advertise on its network and vice versa?

All these sites we've mentioned started after FerrariChat with FerrariChat users. That's called free market competition and perfectly legal, but we're not handing out gifts to the competition after we've spent well over $100k in advertising FerrariChat the past 5 years.

If you don't understand that, you need to keep working for someone else that pays a fixed salary not based on profit.

Not only are you absolutely welcome to come to eCirkit, but you can spend all your time there promoting FerrariChat. We're not competing with you and you're not competing with us. We are two completely different species. I completely understand how you feel - and what many are reiterating - concerning promoting competition on here. But we're not competition. We're not a forum devoted to Ferraris; we're a multi-level networking website devoted to all things - on a completely different platform. If you're not censoring the word(s) "MySpace", then it doesn't make any sense to me why you'd censor "eCirkit.

Everything is free and open when you are small and growing with nothing to loose.

Also, please do not circumvent the censor system, you know that is against our rules. Users have been banned in the past for this. Just a warning. Thanks.

IMO ******* is not competition for FCHAT. Ecrikit is a Garage/MySpace for cars. Many of the threads about my cars on FCHAT are linked from ******* to FCHAT and as that site got over 1 million hits yesterday I think if anything it drives traffic to FCHAT. It's like linking Pininfarina's web site which also links back to FCHAT.

I emailed you about my sig. which I changed from a link and asked if that was alright but never received a response from you. If you want it changed/removed I will just let me know. I think that FCHAT stands on it's own and will continue to for a long time.

I respond to every email I get, make sure you didn't send to old rlay address.

NNO just knows how to circumvent the system.

We'll see how it goes, I go with the flow. I expect that to be your opinion as you are a member of the EC too.

Jim, as someone who spends a fair bit of time actually working on social media programs, I disagree. I'm not taking Rob's side here. The reality is that any 'social', 'networking' or 'community' site is competing with f-chat in some way, shape or form. These types of sites are one of the biggest trends in the web world at the moment--and there's really only a finite amount of traffic (and ad dollars) to go around in niches like f-chat, et al.

Your point about add dollars could be true but I think both sites appeal to different sponsors.
