Maybe he has a steep lead in to his driveway.

The way some of you guys lower your cars, I would be tearing the front lower fiberglass off if my car was that low around here, driveway curbs, speedbumps, drainage gutters, i scrape my almost stock height (less 1/2"), small valance quite often if I am not real careful about approaching dips and curbs at an angle.

1.5" lower that stock would keep me out of my driveway, and most other driveway or lot entry accesses around here

The 'after' is much better, IMHO. Wheel spacers in the rear would also look great.

BTW, my car was looking like the one in the first pic when the old Konis were worn and binding, it wouldn't settle right. Rear ones collapsed, front would bind on extension.

The first car appears to have undersized tires. Makes it look higher than it is.

In 78 they raised the cars a little either for headlights or bumper heights, don't remember which.

The cars are designed to look at when you are standing up. When you get down on your knees for the picture all sorts of design features look goofy.

+1. 10 years ago, when I owned a 78 308GTS, I read everything I could on them, and I recall somewhere that they raised them starting in either 77 or 78 for bumper regulations in North America. For this reason, there is a different spec front and rear springs for the NA market...they were also required because the car weighed a bunch more due to the heavy bumpers. I have seen folks who installed the light weight euro bumpers and it raised the car further still! Steve Magnusson was the one back in the ferrarilist days who engineered some new spring perches that lowered the car 1 or 1.5 inches...it was an elegant solution. :) He freely gave out the drawings to anyone who wanted to have them fabricated.

    I'll bet it's missing.

The lack of this weight could easily explain a bit of the 'nose-up' appearance.

You are actually supposed to put one of the tool rolls in there, too!!

So spare tire, battery, tools and washer fluid.....the weight adds up!!!
