Ah yes, does the one on the right look familiar? https://m.facebook.com/pages/Flat-12-Gallery/103991112971018#!/TheCarChasers/albums/805838472815796/
I actually watched the episode. If memory serves....they bought a truck from two brothers. In the background there was a TR sitting in the dirt on their 'property'. When I say property I mean lots of dirt, a run down house and some mangy pitbull muts running around. Not the best neighborhood in L.A. This is no different from any other reality TV show...................heavily scripted. The 'star' makes and offer for $30 and the brothers turn him down. 'Star' starts to drive off only to be chased down where they accept his offer.
I watched the episode when they were "selling" it after fixing it. Two ******bags, the seller and buyer, were arguing about the price. The buyer wouldn't buy the car unless it came down $500, he also wanted a warranty on a 27 year old Ferrari. Stupid show.
if a dealer im germany like to sell a car ( it does not matter if 1 year old or 30 years old ) this dealer then is proof required for 6 month that if there would be something wrong he has to prove that this mistake has not been before. but how can a dealer do this???
Wow....... scowman: sure hope you found the answers you sought! From my 40 yrs experience with cars, bikes, boats, motor coaches, etc: If it looks odd in ANY way, back away slowly.....then leave. Especially if there is no decent explanation. And NEVER buy a car from a small time UN-knowledgeable dealer....who is just trying to flip cars. We used to call them "Fast-Buck Freddy" back in the day..... Just from the ad and the pics I could detect the repaint job and the poor re-covers on the seat....they just flat out looked bad. Starts opening up questions for sure. Nice research you other guys! Gotta love the internet!
I was the seller of the white TR in question(assuming we are all referring to the same car) and while, yes, the front spoiler had some damage, there was nothing amiss with the light housing or alignment of the front hood. It was a beautiful car that ran like a top and I wish the new owner nothing but many miles of happy motoring with his new car. As for the black TR that is the subject of this thread; it is what it is. It is a fairly high mileage car with many issues...considering all of those issues it certainly didn't sell "so cheap".
DreamCarrera, I was watching that sale closely. I have the twin car with lower miles, current belts/ clutch bla bla bla. Almost everything is correctable. My motto has always been maintenance first, appearance second.
Christian is absolutely correct IMHO....Mechanicals in these things are more important to me. I can take apart a car in a few hours to a day, strip it to metal and drop it off for paint. Interior same. Motor/trans different animal. If a car is in your price ballpark, it is worth a look in person.
Was just roaming the Mondial threads (I own an 85). Paulchua found that the "Car Chasers" are featuring another Testarossa and a Mondial in an upcoming episode. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/475229-mondial-featured-cnbcs-car-chasers.html And he found this preview: CNBC - Watch Full Episodes | CNBC | Epiosde 315 Sneak Peek They don't show the final negotiation, but he started by asking $80k for a package deal that included the Testarossa and the Mondial.
