I started Drinking Bruich Laddich Scotch when Jim started to oversee Bruichladdich.

    the 15, 17, and 30 are outstanding.

Every Murray Mcdavid Mission Series I try (I have about 40) is just the wonderful.

Jim has the nose and the taste to make and pick the best.

I'm planning on going to take Jim's class at Islay, anyone else thinking about doing this?

I've been wanting to try some Bruichladdich for a while, but you have to special order here in Pennsylvania due to the stupid liquor laws. I've been a bit lazy recently, but I guess now I'm gonna have to put in my order for the 15. Any other bottles from the link below that I should consider? FWIW, my favorite scotch so far is Laphroaig Cask Strength if that might give you an idea regarding my preferences. http://www.lcb.state.pa.us/webapp/Product_Management/psi_ProductListPage_Inter.asp?searchPhrase=Bruichladdich&selTyp=&selTypS=0&selTypW=0&selTypA=0&Cost1=&accessory=on&chairman=on&closeout=on&holiday=on&limited=on&onetime=on&outlet=on&powerpur=on&regular=on&slo=on&specialty=on&searchCode=&psiSB=brnd&psiSD=ASC&submit=SEARCH

The 17 is great. That list is missing about 30 Great Scotches, what is up with PA? If you go to Chicago Binnys has the best Mission Series selection in the country (follow all State laws for importing)

The Murray Mcdavid Laphroaig is outstanding. Give it a try, in PA you would use Baccus Importers.

I picked up at Laguvulin 21 and 30 years old, but have not tried either yet.

I finished off my Lagavulin just before I left for Iraq. In the single malts, nothing beats Macallan 18, IMHO.

    How does the Bruch compare?

Maybe the 20year Bruichladdich if your a Macallan fan. I personally prefer a less peaty Scotch. Bruich Laddich's are often referred to as tasting like, honey, cream brulet, toasted walnut, etc.

As opposed to a fireplace (just kidding).

There was a Murray Mcdavid Mission series Macallan that I had that was very good. Macallan to me is like Rolex, it's pretty good, not the best, but very consistant.

You can spend your whole life being happy with your Rolex, but an A. Lange and Sohn is a whole differn't thing.

Where not talking about money differences here, just the product itself. A Mission Series will run you anywhere from $150 to $300 a bottle. The 30 year Bruich Laddich is about $280, 20 year $150, 17 year $100 15 year $75 they make a 12year and Links also.

On the Other Side, the smokey side. Laguvulin 21y $350 30y $500 Is something I'm told you should check off your lifetime list.

Great comparison! Lange is on my list (and will be on my wrist within 10 years), but Rolex isn't. I'll give the Mission Series and the Bruich a shot in Vegas this April. It will be part of my celebration on returning home.

Wow, I've actually had the exact same opinion about Macallan! It's the single malt that EVERYONE seems to know about. Maybe it's because for most bars and pubs, Macallan often represents their highest shelf single malt, so that's what people get to feel special or splurge. I mean, Macallan it isn't bad by any means, but I've always felt there are so many better choices out there.

When people find out I'm a pretty big scotch fan, I always get a chuckle when they tell me "Oh yeah man, you HAVE to try some Macallan, it's soooo good, the best scotch ever!" I usually just nod my head and smile.

Had it once, from what I remember is oaky and toasty. Nice for a 15.
