After hearing from many seasoned pros here whom i respect I spoke with chief tech expert at Hankook and here is his reply for spirited driving a 2002 360 spider with Vebtus v12. May help someone down the road. if you choose these tires feel free call the co itself.

    Blair,

You can use the recommended air pressure of 29 psi in the fronts and 32 psi in the rears given by Ferrari.

Just tell them the 3rd of every minor is its relative major and to arpeggiate a scale utilizing diminished fourths and see what they say. Lol.

Interesting....those are indeed the pressure settings for Pirelli, but not for the other three delineated in the "Horse's" manual. Gentleman, please see my next post.

...three hundred miles now. The tire seems to be stabilizing a bit and my lack of cornering confidence has begun to wane; this is all happening in conjunction with new tire pressure settings (outside air temp. of 78 deg. F.) as follows: fronts - 33 psi cold, rears - 34 psi cold. On the plus side, I will say in addition to cost, these tires make my 360's ride quiter and less jarring.

    +1!

Tire pressures are a very complex topic, books have been written on the subject! 1/2 a PSI can make a big difference on a race car / bike.

For example, a big factor is temperature. Lower pressures cause more flexing of the rubber carcass, and more heat buildup. A tire at too high a pressure might never get up to race temperature, for example.

Conversely, due to liability concerns, some tire shops intentionally over inflate from manufacturer's (the car, not the sidewall) recommendations to keep temperatures low and reduce the risk of tire failures.

For the street, I'd go with COLD pressures (checked weekly for maximum performance / tire life) listed by the vehicle manufacturer. If you've changed tires or rims....you are now a test pilot.

For racing....well, I'll leave that to some of the real pros on here who actually race on 4 wheels. On the track, I can feel a 1 pound difference on my race bike. When I autocross....not so much.

Andy Falbo did a lot of testing and suspension setup for the 360's and he tells everyone one of his customers that has a 360 that it's very sensitive to tires and pressure. There is a chart for the pressures for each type of tire for the 360 using stock tire sizes and also stock tires with stock wheels. Andy has seen tires that come from tirerack that claim to be stock tires for a 360 but deep down in the cords an structure its very different than the ones that ferrari sells.

So keep in mind that even though the stock wheels and tires maybe not be the best looking they were chosen for a reason from ferrari. Changing the rolling diameter will play a big part in the abs, steering, clutch wear, etc.

Over 400 miles on the Hankooks, now. The tires are feeling good. Quiet, comfortable, and more predictable in handling then after the short time after I had them mounted on my 360. Overall, I'm happy with these tires. I hope my experiences and findings have helped.
