I have always bought a service manual whenever I purchase a new car; it helps me to understand the car more thoroughly. Why can't I buy one from Ferrari, or anyone else? You would think that spending the amount of cash I did on this car would be an indicator enough for Ferrari to let me buy the manual.

I know the whole point about only "qualified" Ferrari mechanics can do proper work on the car, but I think I should be able to buy one anyway. After all I did buy one of their cars.

Anyone have any idea on how to get one?

They no longer print manuals, they are made in CD form only and require a hard lock to read them. Ferrari wants a monoply and total control, it is that simple. It is very hard to understand for someone who has never been on the inside with them. It is not so much about protecting profits or quality it is all about control and defies logic. They are simply control freaks. One of the major barriers to many in buying an exotic is the servicing issue. Too far to go to a dealer, etc. But they artificially improve that barrier by limiting distribution technical equpiment and information. It is not about helping their dealer network by protecting them, they don't care about them. That would be a little like telling your wife you love her while you beat her. It is very much an Alice in Wonderland company, down is up and up is down.

You can get CD's for non US models from ferraribooks.com but the hard lock runs $1k last time I checked.

Just rechecked, the hard lock is up to 1200. Some models they have English CD's some they don't. No 430 yet on the web site.

Try www.ferraribooks.com ..... bought a full set of factory manuals from them for my 550 ... wasn't cheap, but they appear to have factory manuals available for most models.
