    California has engine in front of the cockpit.

    Why no affordable V12 hard top convertible? I'd love one.

    I would like one also . ..I have often wondered why not an F12 with a top similar to a california setup .. could sell for say 30K to 50K more then the F12 ...

    It's a strange omission in the line up. I think any front engined V12 owner would want one and it cannot make sense just to do an LE car unless they are concerned about loss of V12 coupe sales. But then just look at the 488.

    A folding hard top would be much better than the soft canvas emergency tops.

    I think the cost of designing and executing a folding top in small numbers would make it very expensive. Not $30-40K more but $100K more. So perhaps only expect a convertible v12 as a limited edition like the Barchetta and Superamerica

    It would be fantastic. I am left to think they like to do these as special limited cars like the Barchetta, SuperAmerica, 599 SA Aperta, and F60 America.

    Well l just can't justify the prices of these.

    To me it's a natural progression Cali->488 spider->F12 spider.

    I would pay $50k more but $100k is really stretching it. Please note spiders historically hold their value better than coupes.

    would be nice - although affordable? Given the price inflation of any limited series car, this would remain a dream unfortunately. Apparently, they were able to add more than $1m to the price of the LaFerrari Spider although "the conversion" only cost Ferrari $50,000....

    As a counterpoint, I would not want one as I dislike the feeling of the top down. Too hot, too windy, too exposed and not enjoyable at all. To each their own. Anything with seams will also eventually leak and the mechanisms will fail. That said, I agree most Ferrari buyers would pay the extra for the option for a lot of reasons. It does, however, appear that Ferrari has been saving that for the SPs and the finale version in their flagships.

    I'm not so sure about this - my recollection is that both hard and soft tops come from manufacturers in Germany who produce a vast range covering little Peugeots or Mercedes SL - reskin the latter and you're ready to go = perhaps !

    Ditto. I vehemently dislike convertibles.

    Because it will instantly turn the California into a Boxster equivalent. Imho Ferrari has positioned each of its models as being completely different from the other and hence they can say that the California is not a cheaper toned down model that you buy because you cannot afford the more expensive model. The same reason why I don't see Ferrari doing a mid-engined V12 outside the halo models.
