I was just wondering why some people will buy a 2003 360, keep it for lets say 9 months, then sell it, and get a 2004 360, keep it for 9 months, then sell it, and get a 575? Why don't you just keep the Ferrari? I know that when I get my Ferraris, I'm gonna keep them til the day I die. I will keep all 15 cars til the day I die.

You and I think alike...maybe because I am originally from Philadelphia. If I had the means, I would have a collection of Ferraris and never sell them. I fear that with the new Ferraris, people (not F-Chatters) see the car as a quick way to turn a buck. Buy a 360 for $160k and sell it for $200k (figures used as an example only).

I know of people who put their names on a waiting list and then "sell" their spot for a profit. I hate that. Now I do not have nearly enough money to even be considered for a waiting list, but if I did, I would be very mad.

i dont knowof anyone that would sell a 03 360 for an 04, its the exact same car!!!! you would just be paying two large transaaction cost for nothing!!!!some people do like to frequently change there exotic cars to try different cars...the reason they dont keep them is a cost!!!! not many people can afford to keep 15 exotic cars at once//where would you put them? who is going to take of them all? who has time to drive all these cars anyway???

Noah: if someone has the right relationship with a dealer, they could conceivably take delivery of a car at sticker, drive it a little, sell it without taking much of a hit, and in some instances make a profit, and then, if the dealer is playing along, do the same thing, again and again. I know one guy near me who will go unnamed who manages to get virtually every new ferrari at sticker and kisses each one g'bye before the ink dries. But, he's got so many interesting cars at any one time, old and new, that it's probably just a way to get the taste of the latest, and not lose any money in the process.

Your last name wouldn't begin with an "F" would it?

I think I'm turning into one of these characters that Bill speaks of. I'm currently on my 3rd 328 in two years and I'm eyeing up 355's now. I just enjoy trying out different cars I guess.

If you're one of the guys who are lucky enough to get a car at sticker and who have a great relationship with the dealer then you may be one that flips frequently. Both the dealer and the owner will make money. This is how one is able to conceivably drive a new F-car for free or even make some $$ on it.

Now if you don't have a relationship like this, then it's very costly to get in and out as you mention. It really would not make much sense. One reason why I think that people sell quickly is because it was an impulse purchase and they freak when they think how much money they have tied up. Also, they may get some pressure from a spouse or whomever.

I spoke to a guy last weekend who owns a '03 360, recently bought a new CS and will be getting a 430 before year end and plans to hold on to all three. Seems a little redundant to me. Money is not of great concern to this guy so I would have to say he likes his toys.

I agree about people buying them and holding onto them to turn a profit. My dad's buddy just did this with the SLR. He bought it at sticker and had a buyer for it through the dealership a month later for $200,000 more. The guy who is buying it doesn't even know the first guy "bought" it for a TON less. The first guy drives it for a month (to VERY limited places), puts 100 or so miles on it and, BINGO, turns his profit.

Must be nice to have THAT kind of money!!
