I've been enjoying my new baby with a vigor over the last couple of months but had an unfortunate thing happen recently. I was loading a box into the trunk and having a friend hold the bonnet open for me. When I stood up, he let the bonnet close by holding it at the drivers side edge and letting it flop forward. He didn't release his side and the hood torqued as it dropped.
As the the hood is very lightweight, it has gotten out of alignment somehow and now it extends about 3/4s of an inch above the left fender. Anyone had this happen? I'm certainly not going to try and bend it back. But would prefer not to spend money on a repair.
So when you see a panel gap on a 355, don't assume its always been in an accident.
    Sigh.

Are you sure the latch did not close and the striker is sitting on top? Take a picture. The hood should not bend like you mentioned unless it smacked the box you're talking about.

Thanks for the advice. The clamp wasn't fastening on that side and just needed a hard push to lock. It's still a tiny bit out of true, but I'm the only one who will notice.
