Looking at the main page and down the different model categories, there are multiple latest post threads on pricing?

Why is there such an obsession with pricing across what I would presume would typically be threads on enjoying cars, etc?

Should there be a separate section on here devoted solely to pricing to keep that away?

I speak as someone who takes an interest in the recent market across models but I try to keep my pricing / value thoughts solely to those areas. Even I think it is a bit odd the so many Ferrari threads are on pricing?

Or is that simply a very big part of the hobby?

I think for the BSD element of this group the value is the enjoyment hence all the threads

You'll be trying to convince them that these are actually cars and they should be driven next.......

I have no problem with the pricing threads. In fact, I think they are helpful to folks who aren't "car guys/gals" that are considering an F-car for the first time. We have to remember that there can be a significant difference between the advertised asking prices and what the cars are actually selling for.
I say leave things as they are and if you don't want to read pricing threads, don't.

And if you want to get to more options on threads, etc., then Subscribe. The subscription areas are much, much better than the non-subscribed threads IMO.

There are tons of pricing threads because there is clearly not a bubble :) People are buying up and selling these cars for enjoyment, not financial gain. I mean remember all the pricing threads that used to exist before 2013?

    Yeah neither do I

Yeah, I think it's time to subscribe.

I actually read (and contribute, too much for many) to a lot of those threads. It just feels like they deserve a separate area like "vehicle market discussion" so auctions, prices, etc. are contained separate from people talking about the cars themselves.

Just a thought but I can understand why leaving as-is is the preferred route.

I like your idea of "vehicle market discussion". Would you also put in subheadings, 360/430. 308/328, F40/50 etc. or would you do it by years, or by Era (Enzo, Fiat, Montezemolo)?

Definitely subscribe, you won't regret it; much better IMO (If I'd known how much better it was, I would have subscribed much early than I did)

I would think we would only need distinction by era.

In fact, having them all in one area makes more sense since models are going to be cross-shopped and compared against other models (usually from similar-ish eras).

In terms of subscribing, I actually have cars from a few other marquees but no Ferrari, so it felt odd to subscribe here (when I pay across a few other forums). So I will weigh it vs. waiting until I actually pull the trigger on a car here first...

+ 2 I found it very useful when I sold my 430 and purchased my 458. Real data not BS ask prices.

It's all very interesting isn't it. Can't wait to read those threads again in 5-10 years time. :D

Subscribed vs. "Not subscribed"? I stop by here most days, but if I miss a day or two, pushing the "New Posts" button takes me back to all the posts I haven't seen. What is the benefit of "subscription"?

I was speaking about paid vs. unpaid members (or was responding to that, at least).

    This.

At this point, a lot of guys are cashing out and a lot of newbies are looking for confirmation that an '80s Testarossa is really a six figure car.

I'd like to say things are better over in Porsche-land, but frankly it's equally insane there.

In the meantime, I just drive and enjoy. Won't be buying anything till the froth subsides.

+ me, too! While I buy cars to drive and enjoy, i like the potential of some level of asset preservation. If a car I own appreciates, so much the better. And, Ferrari IS a blue chip of collector cars, thus there will always be speculation on price. The fact is, they are desirable and most models are at least somewhat rare.

BTW - for the life of me, I cannot understand why some have to be "Debbie Downers" about the current high values in every one of these threads. Almost angry about it. The sky is falling! We're in a bubble! I'm clairvoyant! Who cares if they are priced high or not right now...relax, will ya? :)

The Porsches are significantly more overheated than the Ferrari are. And that says alot. Surprised many haven't noticed.

I actually enjoy reading the crystal ball nonsense mostly from non Ferrari owners. :)

You don't need a crystal ball or a Ferrari . Just look at the history books. The answers are all there

please look in your history books and tell me when the next analogue cars will be upon us?

that may have an impact on these crazy prices.

for now, it is fun watching our cars appear more dear:)

And continuing to circle-jerk in greedy self-absorbed euphoria. And, because of the current paddle-only era "it's different this time". Because Ferraris are no longer manual, prices will hold or go up. See how that prediction pans out over time for you. And while you're at it, try explaining why in the final years of Ferraris being offered in manual, almost NOBODY ordered them. Because like you just said, everyone wants a manual LOL.
