I go to other boards like rennlist, 6speed, rennteam, etc, and all they talk about are cars, mods, etc. Here there are endless discussions on car prices and economy.

Yea I really hate when people talk about buying a F-cars exclusively just so they can make a profit in the future. They are ment to be drive and had fun with, not sitting on as if it were a nest egg.

Old Bluesmen didn't sit around talking about how they had the blues yet again.
Old Jazzmen didn't sit around talking about how they were feeling Jazzy yet again.
Old Country/Western folk didn't sit around talking about how their girlfriend broke up with them then they left the trailer then they got drunk then they drove their semi over their dog yet again.
Old Rockers didn't sit around talking about their latest "Dumb As A Rock" song.
Old Flautists and Bassoonists didn't just offer one another a gruff snort of contempt back in the day.
Same goes for newer generation of each genre.

Many an F-Chatter listens to a symphony wailing away either from the front pit or back of the hall... and knows it comes at a price.

Then, as now, they all talk about that price... for hours, days, weeks, months, years on end about Politics, Religion and Economy.

It might be the marque as it's tied to bigger $$, hence it gets brought up here. Rennteam for example doesn't seem to tolerate endless BS so I also think that has a lot to do with it. Corvetteforum is pretty civilized too. Trolly types find a playground where they can get away with their antics.

A little too liberal here. Threads like "F430 at MSRP", "Things are getting really bad", etc are getting so much discussion. This thread of mine got moved to here from the 360/430 discussion. Shouldn't those be moved to here also?

Never thought Id see THAT posted...

I think our demographics skew towards people who are interested in economics, world affairs, etc and not just cars. I find a conversation about market values and how the economy will or wont affect them far more engaging than the cars themselves.

If you were subscribed you would find some of the most interesting conversations there.

If you think it's bad here, you should see the private silver subscribed threads. Two sections devoted to business/economics/etc. and politics. It gets crazy in there sometimes.

The "Subscribed" forums are where the interesting discourse occurs.

I don't really see the problem. I don't see truly political discussions being talked about. And most of them tend to be finance related.

If they do evolve into that it gets moved to the Politics forums which is for subscribers only.

If it bothers you, stay away. What I see wrong is that you're not learning from the discussions and simply complaining. Just saying.

If it weren't for the politics/off topic/business sections on here, then this site would get old pretty fast. I love ferraris, porsches, etc...but I don't want to read about them every day for hours on end...

Talking to other folks, of like mind, about world events, business, and life... that I could do ad nauseum...

Frankly, one can only take so many: F1 v stick, timing belts, waiting lists, the 3xx is the best Ferrari ever made, Ferrari Spa (FNA) sucks, and on, and on, and on.

Moreover, it has been my experience that Ferrari owners are a very interesting, ecletic group of people. Unlike, Porsche owners who fret over whether their value stems aline with their wheel crests.

    Jerry's right.

$15 will give you a whole new perspective and a lot more conservative talk.

It was the cars that brought me here, but the subscribbed forums are the ones that keep me coming back. Some of the threads in the B&I section have been very informative. There are a lot of very smart people here that share their knowledge, if you aren't careful, you might learn something.

Wouldn't it be funny if somewhere out there, someone on a Political and Religion forum is posting about the degree of car talk that has been going on....

    Interesting!

I'm on quite a few car forums, and they ALL talk politics/religion/economy. Some are more open & civilized, some have moderators who ban people who post different points of view.

+1, I'm very tempted to pay the measly $15 for the silver subscription, but I know I'd end up spending way too much time here as it is, and get nothing done.

Hmmm, so the site should offer 1 week promotional access (like cable) to the premium sections to get people hooked and increase the sub rate.
