Most Porsche owners would expect and get 100 to 150,000 miles without major engine

problems or rebuilds why are ferraris' seen as used up after 50,000 or so?

Is it just a case of low tune(porsche) versus high tune or do ferrari have no incentive to build

longer lasting engines,i have no doubt they could if they wanted to.

I don't think it's a problem of durability - I'm sure there would be no major issues with Ferrari-Engines. The problem is a) the F-cars are mostly not used as daily drivers and thus mileage is low and b) especially in the states the cars are mostly kept in the garage due to the fear of high depreciation... See the thread about Trade-in value - a 2010 Italia with 4500 miles - that's only 900(!) per year. What a shame...

One guy on here I remember bought a 458 with If I remember correctly over 100,000 on the clock at least it was high mileage anyway. I think they are gaining higher mileage nowadays especially in Europe but I may be wrong :):)

I personally think all "owners" that continually obsess about mileage and depreciation on production Ferraris would be better served increasing their post counts on dweebosauruschat.com instead of here.

Ferrari engines are very strong and durable. It's just that there are a lot of Ferrari posers that buy secondhand and want to pretend they could buy a new one. It's all about posing with another peacock's feathers, as we say in Dutch.

The ones who can really afford one don't worry about the mileage and just drive them.

lack of regular use, then get in the car, barely (if at all) warm up engine oil, drive it to redline, put it away.

On a more normally driven car, a lot of mileage is done at normal engine speeds, highway miles, etc. On these cars, very few people drive them "normally."

Keep in mind, that these cars are dry sump designs, despite what the gauge tells you, it takes a while to really get the oil to operating temperatures.

I try to make sure mine doesn't really go more than a week between drives, and really strive to make sure the car is driven for at least 20 minutes each time. I also never rev the engine up until I see stable oil temps.

    Never had any issues whatsoever.
