First of all, a woman car don't mean it's a bad Ferrari, that mean it is the best Ferrari for those that don't know how to drive, and the worth for those who knows.

The front mid V8 Gran Tourers Ferrari are, since the California, the very best cars in their segment, for what they are, polyvalents and very easy to drive cars.

To illustrate my statement I will enlighten the power delivery, that have been less to none discuss (for what I now).
    So let's compare the 2017 GTC4 Lusso T with the 2017 Portofino.

    GTC4 Lusso T
MAXIMUM POWER OUTPUT* 449 kW (610 cv) at 7,500 rpm
    MAXIMUM TORQUE* 760 Nm at 3,000 – 5,250 rpm
    MAX. REVS. 7,500rpm
    KERB WEIGHT. 1865kg
    • MAXIMUM SPEED>320km/h
    • 0-100 KM/H3.5sec
    • FRONT245/35 ZR20”; 8.5” J x 20”
    • REAR295/35 ZR20”; 10.5” J x 20”

    Portofino
MAX. POWER OUTPUT*441 kW (600 cv) at 7500 rpm
MAXIMUM TORQUE *. 760 Nm from 3000 to 5250 rpm
    MAX. ENGINE SPEED. 7500 rpm
    KERB WEIGHT**. 1664 kg
    • MAXIMUM SPEED>320 km/h
    • 0-100 KM/H3.5 sec
    • FRONT245/35 ZR20; 8J x 20”
    • REAR285/35 ZR20; 10J x 20”
    You can't miss my point!
But if you still haven't noticed, these two Ferrari have exactly the same F154 V8
Exactly the same F1 DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION, 7-SPEED (both model released in 2017)
    Both are RWD
    The torque is the same
Same max speed and same 0-100 KM/H3.5 sec

    On the paper:

    GTC4 Lusso T
    +10CV
An anecdotal wider rear tires, so a very slightly better traction

    Portofino advantage
    199kg lighter!!!!

The fact is that the Portofino underperforms hugely!
Judging by these numbers alone the Portofino should be faster on a 0-100 by something around 0.3sec, that means a 0-100 around 3.2sec.
The explication is that the power delivery is lowered on purpose by Ferrari to make the Portofino easier to drive.
If we look closely there is Asterix on the power/torque numbers, for the GTC4 Lusso that just refer to the use of 98 octane fuel (personally I have multiple 100+ octane gaz stations around me) but for the Portofino it's a reference on the 7th gear!
The power is indeed restrained in all the other gears, the purpose is to allow the guy who plans to replace his 2.2 tonnes SL63 to stay in his confort zone, by not be too afraid on the test drive when he will do his usual full throttles..
That's also means the women can finally "drive" a Ferrari, of course there will have scratches on the rims but at leats no major crash on the road to the hairdresser and pedicure..
(or only because of an Instagram selfie taken at the wrong time)

This Ferrari segment is attempted to be easy to drive with a restrained power delivery, so yes is't the women Ferrari segment, or the unskilled driver segment, it is not an insult, it is just what it is..

As an illustration you can watch this woman and her best friend gay enjoying shy accelerations with ESP on in their Roma..

I guess I must be a woman going from a 488 Spider to the Portofino M. As a side note, our Nissan GTR that is factory stock will outrun every Ferrari I have ever owned, but that is the car my wife drives!

The FF and Lusso V12 are also very easy to drive, it is the luxury 4 seaters segment.

I like the possibility that AWD offer (go to alps/rainy day) the two gearbox system is very cleaver (specially for the low center of gravity) but the lack of RWD mode is a huge disappointment for the driving pleasure..
It is my only regret with those two 4 seaters front mid V12, but a big one!
(better to have a classic awd system with rwd mode as my anvil amg gt 4 doors)

GTC4 Lusso T is RWD and lighter so yes the handling is better but it's still a very heavy luxury 4 seaters.
(No comment for the suv purosangue)

The real driving cars are all the rear mid V8's, all the 2 seaters front mid v12's, and the new rear mid v6's..
The awd SP90 is sanitised, but I understand the existence of a pure performance focus segment.

The only segment that should not exist in Ferrari is the front mid V8 one.
Despite of being the best cars of the gran touring 2+2 segment in handling, engine, weight, beauty..
It devalues the Ferrari brand prestige, and should have been leave to Maserati as intended with the cali..

Unfortunately the Roma replacement will likely be a V6 hybride (probably the F163)
The main reason the Roma still has a good old V8 is thanks to the chassis introduced with the Portofino that can only be a non-hybrid V8..

For that reason, I think that the Portofino M will maybe be view as one of the best Ferrari convertible in the future.

There are some purists who claim that only the F2005 is a proper man-Ferrari and all other types are intentionally made weaker and easier to drive woman-Ferraris.

    ;)

At least you are the only one who made fun on me with style!

    @ All of you
You can disagree with my contempt attitude, nevertheless I have highlighted the fact that the power delivery is significantly lower than the numbers can insinuate, and my comparaison with the Lusso T illustrates it clearly.

But in your infinite stupidity you just remembered my view on women..
The useless comments are on your side

It was definitively not my intention to make fun of you; I simply wanted to present a counter-argument in a light-hearted manner.

Please apologize if that was ambiguous.

Thank you & have a great weekend,

Love my Roma, drove some of the other higher end cars and they just didn't fit me.

    Maybe I just prefer woman...

In my post and comments I always said that the Ferrari 2+2 front mid v8 were the best convertibles in the segment.
Best handling, best engine, best weight ratio, only true mid engine, and most beautiful..
Mercedes, Aston, Maserati, all the concurrents are left for dead, except maybe the continental GT which is better from a luxurious 2+2 cruiser perspective.

So let's put it this way
You wanted the world best 2+2 convertible > Congratulation you made the best choice (specially the Portofino).
You wanted a Ferrari > Too bad, you made the worst possible choice.

And I didn't specify 2+2 for no reason, if you're not regularly drive with kids on the back seats, I'm begging for someone to give me a reason to choose this segment over the mid rear v8 one or mid front V12 (let's say in cowl shake Spider version to be fair)
    I'm waiting for a reason.

    @066/8
Sorry for my misinterpretation, that was indeed well put.
    Same!

I feel like the Portofino is the Ferrari I would prefer to buy in today's lineup. Extra seats, already extremely fast, comes with a convertible roof, beautiful and is reasonably priced to me compared to an 812 GTS.
