I recently bought a back issue of evo to get their original review of the scud. They also had an article about the Fiorano circuit and an interview with Ferrari test driver Raffaele di Simone. When asked "How does the Scuderia manage to match the Enzo's lap time?" he answered:

"Brakes later and accelerates sooner. Just those two things."

    Thought that was interesting.

Thank you Dave, an interesting topic.

A short anecdote I made in another thread. Two years ago I made a very impressive experience on a racetrack, a former F1 racer drove my Scuderia, I was sitting in the passenger seat. We were by far the fastest on the track, no Italia, no Speciale and no 458 Challenge (all faster than the Enzo in Fiorano) were able to follow us. Completely euphoric I asked my friend: "are you nuts? How can you be so fast?". He said: "it is my confidence in the Scuderia. Even today I prefer to drive the Scud on a racetrack".

In the sum; the Scuderia exudes a lot of confidence, I like it. I dare to say on the limit the Scuderia is (next to all its assistant systems) basically easier to drive than the Enzo.
(...and in addition, compared to the Enzo, its gearbox shifts faster)

Howsoever, next to the F40 the Enzo remains as one of my absolute dream cars.

I'm sure that would be an unforgettable experience having an F1 driver drive you around on the track in your scud!

Yes, F40 is my #1 dream car. What's ironic is that I'm generally against turbocharging. That car, gets a pass.

Yes Dave, it was an unforgettable experience. I'm not an untalented driver, but to realize how it is to drive the Scuderia really on its limit was extremely impressive, it was driving on a different level.

Funny our common interest on the F40.
I have no problems with turbo engines, they have also their own character. For me following applies: V6, V8, V12, turbo or what so ever, main thing it is a highly technical (pure) internal combustion engine.

In my eyes the F40 is the "SR-71 Blackbird" in automotive history, the most important milestone in the supercar world.

There exist a wonderful video about the F40 (im comparison to the F50) I can watch again and again.

Another video shows the F40 compared with our beloved Scud, IMO with a fair conclusion.
