    Why the F430's timing chain Tensioner has to be replaced even if its only 30k miles, as per service manual says in the line of "if it was installed once, replace it"

    also, why the 360/430 oil circulation has to take up spaces in the gearbox? isn't a close loop in the engine good enough?

    The tensioner has a ratchet like function to it to prevent it from collapsing allowing the chain to slip damaging the motor. Trying to reuse it can damage that function.

    The oil is in a tank cast into the transmission housing to facilitate it being a dry sump system. It was placed there to centralize the weight of the tank and oil.
