Or am i the only one who cant access it?
bit early in the day for me to put my tin-foil hat on, let's see if OP @Flyingbrick242 sees this and can shed some light
I deleted it. The thread started with posting YouTube videos of a former sponsor who is banned because his sponsorship lapsed and his only interaction on the forum is commercial. That former sponsor created a new account to re-access the forum and advertise his brand and his impending status as a vendor. While the ideal scenario would have been to remove just his posts with commercial content and preserve the thread, had I done so, the remaining replies would not have made any sense. Unfortunately, without the prohibited content, the thread was not deemed salvageable. If the former sponsor wishes to reactivate his original account to advertise on the site, he knows how to directly contact the administrator to make arrangements. Do please feel free to start a new thread discussing the technical merits of the kit. Any questions, please PM me. All the best, Andrew.
Wow...What a disappointment...! When I started this thread I had no idea it would lead to this....if I take a high level perspective what happened was the critiquing of a new product that has huge potential analized by a competent technical audience. Statements made in some of the video's were called out and rightfully so..I'm not disputing the Mods decision to remove its their call. Those that have followed the thread I hope we learned something about the kit which was the point to begin with, unfortunately I strongly feel we lost the opportunity for a honest comparison and insight.
Maybe just add the videos to the video thread? The only reason it was deleted was due to Dan making a reappearance under a new name to promote his business. Although, I felt it kind of derailed into an e-diff argument which has been discussed many times here in various threads.
Dan posted the compare vid. I missed the part where he thanks Art for all the training lol. Why wld anyone send NG a car to convert?!
this came off negative. if its a great DIY kit then seems like having any trusted local shop do it makes the most sense.
Ok...just watched the comparison video. NGSC wants 25k to install without clutch replacement, 35K with a clutch replacement while admitting they are not techs.
Dan did say he likes the EAG software better because it's also a tune, so sounds like Dr. S kit with a Trev programming is the perfect combination for a conversion. The part he likes about the Dr. S software is that it can be done in place without removing the ECUs and cluster.
Id rather buy the eag kit with trev programming and support than dr s without. Its a big world. Good for people to have options.
"while admitting they are not techs." What could possibly go wrong? "25k to install without clutch replacement, 35K with a clutch replacement" $10,000 for a clutch? I thought Jesse James was dead.
yeah that sounds like a hefty price to pay non professionals. also they will only accept perfect 430s, which is maybe 10% of the ones in existence?
I merged the two threads querying the deletion. It was a very reluctant deletion and I'd hoped by now that someone would have started a new thread on the conversation without a non-sponsor hijacking it. I'll review with the other mods to see if there's any way to salvage the original thread. Bear with me. All the best, Andrew.
Upon review, the mod team has determined that the original thread is not salvageable. Most of the content was built upon responses to commercial activity by a non-sponsor participating in bad faith through an alternate account to circumvent a ban and the discussion doesn't make any sense with his content removed. Cambio Manuale (Dr S) produces an F1-to-manual conversion kit that is definitely of interest and they sponsor our online community - the deletion of the review thread on their product is in no way a poor reflection upon their company and the loss of a technical discussion thread is highly regrettable. Please feel encouraged to start a new thread on the topic and, should a non-sponsoring vendor start to hijack the discussion to promote themselves without supporting our community, please report it promptly so that the thread can be salvaged and we don't lose any further technical review threads like this one. Hopefully the community will be able to replicate the lost discussion soon. All the best, Andrew.
