I thought all tobacco names were off in USA sports?

Ferrari had no patches or decals. BAR Honda...I'm suprised they weren't handing out samples!

Was wondering the same thing during the press conference. "Marlboro" all white-patched over - "Lucky Strike" - plain and visible as it normally is.

I am not sure about the Lucky Strike situation but under some agreement with the U.S. Government, Marlboro wasn't allowed to advertise in the U.S. since Team Pensky (also sponsered by Marlboro) had already used up the alloted advertising opportunity for the U.S. market.

I would assume Lucky Strike was in the same situation, although I don't know whom else in the U.S. is sponsored by Lucky Strike.

The US does allow tobacco advertising, but only on one car/team. Since the Penske? team is also sponsered by Marlboro, they have the right to use the emblem. Ferrari would be a second team, therefore no emblem. Since West, Mild Seven, and Lucky Strike do not sponser cars in another series that visits the US, they were allowed to use their emblems. Hope this helps.

I believe that since Player's is no longer involved in anything, that allowed BAR to display the Lucky Strike ads.

It's exactly as TCM has put it. Marlboro is under contract with another US-based auto racing team. No other team is allowed to fly the Marlboro colors in an automotive racing event in the States. Mild Seven and other brands that do not have commercial contracts with any US based race teams have no conflicts which allow them to advertise their brands.
