Don't laugh.....someday, this guy will get a clue and start repairing genuine Ferrari bodywork with the skills he's got.....
Hell, with $20K projected in cash expenditures and 1500 hours labor, he coulda used the time to get a job paying $10/hr and had $35000! Isn't that the bottom end of the 328 market?
Did they at least buy real F emblems for the replica ? You know what happens with the replica types. It gets out of hand. They cannot stop. - They START at the emblems. Before long they are trying to locate an original steering wheel and dash. You gotta fool a person who knows !!!!!!!! Some idiot had OVER 100K in a Diablo fake. It really looked close. It had some genuine interior parts. Imagine how much genuine interior parts cost ? Of course they NEVER figure their time in the project. Too bad. You can find a superb early Diablo for 110K. - That is a low mile, few owners (1-3), documented, serviced (no gaps), mint car, and from a top notch dealership. -or- you can have a replica.
No.....not seriously! I think that anyone that has that much of a desire to have what appears to be an F-car, but can't possibly afford one, may be more of an 'enthusiast' than those of us who can purchase the real thing. Building a car like that becomes a 'Labour of love'. Plunking down a cheque to purchase a Ferrari off of the showroom floor isn't any 'Labour of love'!!!
Before my present profession, I spent YEARS grinding metal and sanding fiberglass and putty. His stuff looks like crap.
Well, I see your point, and I agree he's probably more passionate about FCars than many ... but if he was "serious", he'd get a an actual 308 damaged (body or engine) for peanuts, and spend that same time repairing it (working on the real thing) and end up with the actual Ferrari experience.
Your welcome, Carbon. Hopefully, I'll be checking back in, in a week or so; if all goes well. Andreas, while I'm gone, you've got to keep me informed of what's going on with FerrariChat! P.S. I'll be online 'till this coming Sunday.
