anyone know more about any special adapter, etc to get the V1 to actually stay plugged into the CS power supply?

I think it is easier to just hard wire it to the dome light and forget about it. There is even a thread on "how to" for the 360 if I remember correctly.

Same problem with 360. Easy solution (at least a year or so ago): Valentine had a small thin plastic sleeve that fits on the V1 plug and makes for a snugger fit. Check with Valentine.

somebody get urotrash a day job ;)

mine does the same, and the silly plastic sleeve thingy is too big to fit in the lighter socket.

i'm gonna have it hardwired shortly.

Agreed, call Valentine, this is not a new problem for some imported cars. They will have a fix.

Are you using the coiled cord? If so, it is too short and tends to pull the plug out. I am using the longer flat cord and it stays just fine. No adapters are needed.

Hardwired is the way to go. Might cost you $50 - $100.

No, I went to the flat cord after having the coiled one pop out in two seconds. Sean R. (you probably remember him from your neck of the woods) hardwired my F150 and I'll order up some more kits for the rest of the cars and have him do the CS if that is the only solution. The sucky thing about hardwiring is a) it should be on the passenger side since I usually drive crazy by myself and don't need a torpedo at my head b) you can't indiscretely pull it down and hide it if a cop gets you and c) you must have the remote display or you can't see it on the driver side.

Get the battery-powered Escort Solo II, it was Autoweek's pick of the detectors a few weeks ago. I've been happy with mine.

I went through a short Solo phase but outgrew it. Escort used to be IT until they let Valentine leave to start up his own firm. The battery powered radars are not as strong as DC powered ones.

position, does it? At least it didn't for my Porsche or Audi. It merely provides a constant on, (with ignition), power supply originating from the dome light. Why would you have to relocate it from it's current position if it was hardwired? Also, from my experience, it's just as easy to remove if need be.

    doo-ron,

how dare you??? i use a splitter for the V1 and the cell cord, and put one wrap of tape around the splitter as it hits the lighter receptacle... when Jack sends his guy over to put in a plug, i'll be glad... i had one put in a TT once.

Jack told me one is not allowed to have leaves or dirt from your soccer playing son in the car, either .. must be a F thing?

btw, did you know in LA mon, customers cancel their F service appt.s if it rains???? cars made of sugar, mon. that would never happen in Boston, right mon???????

because i keep it on the windshield between the passengers in the middle but clip it to a visor when hardwired so a wire isn't constantly on the dash.

    did you get your car?

there is a piece you can get that looks like a little sleeve that goes over the plug with inlets for the side metal pieces. it widers the diameter of the plug to make it a more snug fit. try contacting valentine because my radar came with the extra piece

    1. No annoying cords to deal with (or duct tape!)
    2. Never falls out leaving you unprotected
    3. No need to find it and stick it back in while at full speed (no dirty jokes, please)
    4. Never drains your battery; turns off with the ignition
    5. Nestled between the headliner and mirror, it is fairly stealthy
    6. As high as possible, it is best positioned to see those signals coming over the next hill

And its easy/cheap... Just Do It! Next time your car is at your Ferrari shop, just hand them the hardwire kit, tell them to run it between the windshield and the headliner to the SWITCHED wire in the dome light... they might not even charge you, its that easy!

Brian, are you sure about that angle you have it mounted? It sure doesnt look like it is correct, for the best possible performance of the V1. I like that it is up and out of the way, how long have you had it like that and is it performing properly?
