Why would someone do this?

I would think the answer is simple.... They want a 355 but don't want valve guide issues, cracking headers, rings eating through Nikasil liners etc etc and would rather deal with self-destructing gearboxes and an engine that is designed so a belt failure takes out BOTH banks

I could be wrong though....

There is an FChatter with a car just exactly like that in Kuwait. It has all the 355 bodywork but is a 348. As far as I can remember, he likes his car, but its been a while since I read the 348/355 section in detail.

Once again another 348 owner that just can't resist the superior looks of the 355... I totally understand why the owner did this... All 348's scream inside "I WANT TO BE A 355"

 

But then the 348s wake up covered in sweat and realize it was all just a bad dream....

 

I'm still waiting for someone to put a 348 body kit on a 355.

I imagine I will be waiting for a loooooonnnnng time!

The 355 is simply the best looking modern Ferrari (period)

Well because they want to and they have the means to do so. Forget what side you are on, as far as 348 vs 355 vs whatever and remember people can do what they like with their Ferraris (for me i would exclude the rare examples from this statement), if its not to your taste then move on and find one that is to your taste. Simple really.

Passion is right... it was already like that when I bought it... and I paid $17,500 for it... The new paint job cost me about $3K, and i just built an air conditioned garage for it at a cost of about $5K, plus some parts from Ricambi, etc., all in I have about $28K into the car and garage...

Looks like a 355, drives and sounds like the 348 it really is, and with the new paint looks brand new...!

Does it get any better than that?
