Try a lab/chow mix with personality problems. I lost about three square feet of carpet and about 1 1/2" of door in one day!

I think Henry let you off easy; you're lucky he didn't decide to eat the cabinets and chew through the walls.

It's a bad idea to lock up a dog all day. Dogs are smart, they get bored, and then they'll find something to do.

Remember - they're pack animals, they want to be part of your pack and then figure out who the alpha male/females are. Then they may start 'testing' you - that's where you'll have to do the 'alpha stare-down'.

Andy has an ad running in the paper and if there is no one to claim him I was going to drive up and get him.

bummer about the bathroom but by the hours you leave the puppy alone, it will do anything for attention/boredom. With the hours you have, you can't train or keep any dog happy. Regardless of breed. It's great that you saved the dog but need to find a home that will give it the attention it needs to stay happy. Terriers are great dogs but will test you in every way.

I thought it funny you mentioned this. I have a very active adolescent border collie, and I am away from my house at least 12 continuous hours every weekday. How do we do it? The dog goes to doggie day care five days a week. He plays with his friends all day and I check in on him from time to time on the webcam. What a life.

lol... my Jack Russell just started going to doggie day care every other Monday. She gets a report card and everything. Her best activities are "talking" and "racing". :) I love Jacks.

    I really appreciate it, Mike.

Ike, when do you want to come up? How long is the drive from NOLA? I only have 1 day/week off, so it will be tough for me to meet you somewhere in between, but I'll do what I can.

    UPDATE:

No calls on the "found" ad in the paper, and Ike is planning on being here tomorrow about 4 pm to pick up little Henry.

    I'm kinda sad :(

I went up to Jackson today and met Mr. and Mrs. damcgee and picked up the puppy. We had a fun ride home. He bit a hole in the side of my foam cup of coke. LOL I think he drank a lot of it as he has not stopped running around the house since I've been home. He is exploring everywhere in the house and the yards. I took him over to play with the neighbors kid for a while and he hasn't gotten tired yet.

I think my lab is jealous. First she was scared and now she is trying to feel him out but gets nervous with Henry jumps on her. I think it may take a few days for them to get comfortable with each other.

It was nice to meet the two of you and I want to thank you again for the puppy.

Here is a pic from the ride home.

I feel like I had a baby. I keep taking pictures. lol

On the way home he chewed his leash all the way through. I went and bought one of those retractable leashes. I took him out to our playground a little while ago and he started running and I couldn't get the leash to stop in time. So the clean white dog found the one mud puddle that was out there. I didn't get any pics of him being dirty but I got some of him trying to get out of the bath.

He is really cute. Does their hair get longer as they get older or are there just some with longer hair than others?

It depends on how their hair grows in. Hard to tell when they're puppies. Zoe has a broken coat (mix of smooth and rough coat) and she really needs to get groomed. She's 2 years old next month.

JRT's are great dogs and they're EXTREMELY smart. He'll always be hyper, and he'll always jump. We tried using baby gates to contain Zoe when she was a puppy, and she easily jumped over them, despite them being over 3 feet high. She also grabs any tissue/napkin/papertowel she can get at and tears it up. She just loves playing. A tennis ball will be your (and Henry's) best friend.

Good luck with him. Every day will be an adventure! :)
