Jealousy. Plain and simple
Indeed it would be. This is one aspect of F car ownership that REALLY concerns me. My testosterone levels are just way to high to deal with this kind of crap without being physical with the scum who did it. Thats why I started that thread awhile back about driving at night, I'd much rather avoid these types of people if at all possible, especially since I wouldn't be polite if I caught them. People saying things at stoplights, ok. People asking for rides, fine with me no problem. Goldiggers asking for details, I'm happily married. But people playing dangerous road games and keying my car, NOT FU**ING OK.
I have had this happen to me on my SVT Focus once and twice on a very nice Pickup, on separate occasions; all in shopping centre parking lots. It really P**SED me off. The truck had to get repainted on each side in a 2 year period because each side was keyed the entire length. It has never happened to any of my Ferraris, but if it did I would not wish to be the perpetrator. *AS THE COMEDIAN RUSSELL PETERS SAYS: "SOMEBODY GONNA GETTA HURT AROUND HERE!!!!"* Like others on here, I grew up poor and worked my A@@ off to buy the cars I own. I was raised to respect other peoples property and admire all types of cars. Just get it repaired and like another post said, keep your car parked where you can see it if you go out for lunch....I don't think it being RED helps either. I owned an Argento 575 and would park that car in all types of shopping center parking lots and I did not have any issues with it. My Barchetta on the other hand, draws a crowd and I never park it where I cannot keep an eye on it.(RED)
This is exactly why I can't bring myself to drive the 308 to work despite my co-workers requests. If we had our own building and lot I might, but I work downtown and park in a large multi-level deck. Not a chance. Hell my dd Subaru has 3 or 4 door dings and a 2-foot scratch down the left rear panel. What would happen to a Ferrari?
As unlikely as this is, did anyone consider a very comical possibility that I just thought of? Maybe they were just walking to their car, and they saw the Ferrari and did a double take and tripped over their own foot, and accidentally scratch the car as the fell? Oh I am a terrible person.
Sorry to hear about your car i think most nice car owners have already experienced something similar. Thats why i usually just go for a 100 mile drive and just return at my house. I rarely park my Ferrari anymore where I cannot see it.
I don't need any encouragement to fall flat on my face, with arms flapping in all directions. I can do that just fine in completely unextraordinary situations. And I have a tendency to park as far away as possible, so with the exception of 3 or 4 times, including the one mentioned below, my car sits quite alone. In all seriousness, if I did that, and I have done that once(fortunately to a 2001 ford taurus so it wasn't too pricey) I leave a note of apology and my phone number to discuss the solution. The guy wasn't an ass and well we sorted it out, he just had the paint sanded and repainted in that area, 350 bucks solved our problems.
You're easily baited, and Darth seems to be a master baiter! Ummm, back to the OP - sorry to hear about the damage. People seem to have less than zero respect for other people's property & that's a pretty sad thing.
