I took my wife for a ride in my 360 one day. I drove about 155 mph and scared the crap out of her and now she has no interest in the car.

She can drive it any time she wants........

Just make sure she knows how to drive it. I mean, understands the power and how the rear can get away from her. These cars can be dangerous if not controlled.

In fact do a search..... there was another thread on this question.

    Why are you nervous?

My wife drives all of our cars; Ferraris, Porsche, BMW and our racecars at Sears Point, Laguna Seca and Thunderhill. Her daily driver is a M3 and we had great fun driving the 550 (her) and the Challenge Stradale (me) to the Arizona Concorso last week. My wife has encouraged my automobile purchases because she sees how much fun I have.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the “Other Off Topic” marriage thread and off model specific.

I know people would understand having F1 cars. That is a big deal for me to keep my car's in good shape. And no one can make that happen except you, the true owner and driver. We know who the cars really for.

Marriage is a partnership and you should cherish the fact that your wife wants to do hot laps in your jointly owned 360 Spider. Bvllshlt, hide the keys or tell her that the F1 transmission if not used perfectly will result in a $4,500 clutch replacement. Are you prepared to pay for that dear???

So your wife wants to drive the car and you said no?

You value the car more then what your wife wants?

    Good luck...............

Hi! Newbie alert as you can probably tell from my other post.

I too can vouch for some wives being very into their driving. Jessica got an S55 back a few months ago and has scared me more than once. I guess I worry for her too much…. She is obsessive about keeping her car clean but my car has sandwich wrappers and French Fries under the seat.

She knows nothing about Ferraris though….

She has and can, but really doesn't want to now because she doesn't want to damage it.

When I first got it she asked thinking I'd say no. I said "absolutely, let me show you how" I went with her and she had fun. But, because I was honest in letting her her drive the novelty wore off quickly and it's not a big deal for her. If she wanted to anytime it would be no problem.

I enjoy my Fcar. I document every drive and baby it....

My wife is far more important.....

    Hope this helps ya.

My wife drives everything, but the CGT. Her daily driver is an SL55 and she's a demon. The 575 fits her particularly well as it has a trunk suitable for shopping.

I detect a tone of male superiority in some of the replies in this thread, but resistance is futile. Females, especially wives, are the Borg of this planet.

My is important, the most important next to my kids. But, she had no interest driving the other Ferrari's because of six speed. But now F1 comes up, like an automatic, but not really. You still have drive it like a 6 speed. I was just wondering other people's thoughts.

Teach her how to take the curbs at an angle so she doesnt bottom out and go over some of the basics -- how not to burn the clutch on the F1, patience making right turns at lights so you dont hit the curb, etc, etc.

Otherwise, let her have some fun. Since we both can afford the car, we can afford to fix it if something breaks. What is a few $K here or there, and worst case you have insurance.

If it gets totalled, hopefully the wife suffers no injuries, and then you can throw a little celebration and use the money to go buy another "newer" one.

Once you get two exotics in the garage and have bought and sold a few of them, you wont care anymore. Bite your lip, let her drive it a few times alone, and next time you hear it fire up in the garage, you wont even flinch.

My wife used the Maser on a regular basis, and i don't mind having her driving the 550.

    It looks sexy :)

I let the wife drive my 550 the day I got it but that's the last time. It's too heavy for her and despite being a driving instructor her driving in terms of car control has never filled me with >90% confidence. Like many (but not all) women she has little mechanical sympathy for the car. Just to ease the pain I bought her a Honda S2000 which she drives very conservatively and loves.

I don't think I've ever said anything for or against my wife driving my high-end cars. When asked, she just says "I don't want to", something about not wanting to be the one to "ding it up". At one point, she was having an accident a year.

GOSH some of you guys sounds like all women are driving morons !!!!!! :)
I know some women who are only afraid of driving a supercar because their very nervous husbond is sitting next to them, telling/shouting advices and a lot of things that only MAKE them nervous...
Mostly because a lot of you guys makes some women believe they cannot drive a Ferrari or similar... grrrrr !!!! ;)

I know that I'm no expert... I just had my very first Ferrari driving experience at a friends house in Holland. But oh boy it was great!!!

Let your lady feel the fun and the joy of riding your beloved Ferrari !!! :):)
