I'm just under 6' 2", made up of 50% body / 50% legs, and I fit in both the 308 and 328 GTB's/GTS' (with targa top on), without any issues. If you're over 6 foot tall, and your body ratio is more biased towards your body than your legs, then you could encounter headroom issues, but I can't say I ever have. leg-wise, the driver's foot-well is actually surprisingly long in the 308/328 GTB/GTS (I have my seat two notches from the back) - It's the steering wheel that tends to throw people off a bit, as it seems a bit far away, so they crank the seat forward, and then take up the needed legroom. This is why the steering wheel spacer mod is popular for taller drivers, because it brings the wheel back towards the driver (I've not felt the need to fit a spacer to my 328 GTS). I fit better in my 328 GTS, than I did in my previous 348 TS (because the foot-well is shorter in the 348), and even the 348 wasn't a major problem, I just had to sit slight more splayed legged than usual, but it was never uncomfortable. I learned the trick with getting out of a 308/328 GTS from Magnum pi (the proper one with Tom Selleck - Not Magnum pi wannabe remake!): (NOTE: I'm in the UK, so it's a RHD car): Open the drivers door, slide my right leg out, place my right hand on the door sill, push my body up with my arm, pull my left leg out. (So for a LHD, it would be: Slide the left leg out, place the left hand on the door sill, push your body up with your arm, and pull your right leg out) Getting into a 308/328 GTB/GTS is pretty simple - Leg in, slight twist of the body, and then drop down into the seat (it is quite a way down into the seat though). On the days I'm "feeling my age", I might place a hand on the door sill as lower myself into the seat, just to help reduce the landing speed a bit. Talking to one of the sales guys at a Ferrari independent dealers a while ago, he told me that a lot of owners give up their 308's/328's/348's when they get old, not because they struggle to drive the cars, but because they struggle to get in and out of them (back issues, knee issues, leg issues, neck issues .......) If you want to know if you can fit comfortably in a 308/328 GTB/GTS (or any Ferrari/car), the only real way to find out is to try sitting in one, and test drive one. Don't assume that, because one person had an issue with getting comfortable in a car, you will, and by the same token, don't assume that, because others didn't have an issue, you automatically won't, you need to find out for yourself. Also, bear in mind that you might fit in the car with a bit of compromising - You just need to judge if any required compromise is worth it.
I was seriously considering trying to purchase one I saw on BAT but ultimately decided to wait. I will find one somewhere that I can sit in to see how I fit, they I will be ready to bid without hesitation... Thanks all!!
Totally agree - There's no way I would ever put my body weight down on the door to get out 3*8 GTB/GTS door hinges are very prone to sagging when weight is applied downwards on them, such as people bearing down on them getting out of the car. (And as many on here know, the factory "fix" for the sagging door issue, is to open the door, place a block of wood underneath the rear end of the door, and use a car jack to bend the hinges back up!) The Tom Selleck/Magnum p.i method has to be the best method - Place your hand on the chassis tube in the door opening, and push yourself up from there.
I’m 6’0” and 190 pounds. No problem fitting in my 83 308QV. I actually find the car very comfortable to drive for long stints. I love the seats. And, I have a 58 year old back that endured college sports.
That's what I do and I figured it was an aging tall guy solution -- nice to hear I am doing it the same way Magnum did! I'll have to pay attention next time I watch.
