Actually in 99 BAR tried to run 1 car with Lucky Strike logos the other with 555 sponsorship. After the FIA shot them down they painted the left side in the Lucky Strike color and the right in 555 colors. So a Sauber with Alfa on one side and Masserati would be legal.
The press release on Bloomberg, said it was a strategic business relationship agreement, and the only requirement was that they use Ferrari engines.. Bloomberg also said that after 30 years outside F1, Alfa's still have lots of F1 win history, that at least I was unaware of "Alfa Romeo participated in Formula 1 from 1950 to 1988, both as a constructor and engine supplier. Immediately upon its debut, Alfa Romeo won the first two drivers’ world championships, in 1950 and 1951, with drivers Nino Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio."....

Auto Motor und Sport reports that the beleaguered Swiss team, dead last in 2017, will have put 20 new technical staff to work by the time winter testing begins in February. "The first began with us on 1 November," said Frederic Vasseur, whose first act as team boss this year was to end the planned Honda deal and arrange instead for Sauber to use current Ferrari engines in 2018. "The others will start step by step," he added. "In many cases, we will only benefit from them in the second half of the season in 2018."

They won’t add something ugly to the car at launch, they’ll save that for race days..... it’d be like having Susan Boyle model your hot pants ...... why? If she wants to wear some she can buy em, but you wouldn’t want people to associate her with your hot pants
