how old are your kids and what kind of food do you like? I'm kind of drawing a blank on any one thing to suggest since there's so much to see and do.

That's Longue Vue House & Gardens (504) 488-5488. My 2 cent opinion: take her to the zoo (via streetcar) and the Mardi Gras exhibit in the museum adjacent to St Louis Cathedral.
You can also ride the ferry (for free!) back and forth from the end of Canal St at the river. Nice views from the ferry. Afterwards, walk along the riverfront for a different perspective.
If she is into traditional jazz or music in general, maybe go to Preservation Hall (from 7 or 8 pm to about 11 pm). It is NOT a bar or music club and doesn't allow smoking.
Enjoy your trip, and thank you for coming to Louisiana!

yes, the zoo should be open, and you could also check out Audubon Park right by the zoo and if it's warm, get a snowball.

If venture into the French Quarter, might want to try Red Fish Grill; good fun and kid friendly. It's only a block off Canal St so you don't get deep into the Bourbon bar scene though is next door to one of the Hustler shops.

Enjoy your trip and safe travels.

Dave nailed it with the recommendations. You could also go to the Aquarium of the Americas right on the riverfront. It's really a great place. Years back they debated over the fact that the piranhas being there because some worried they would spawn if a ship went astray and struck the building!!

    Have a wonderful time.
