    Jordan is correct -
The red one is a 1971 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS Spyder which was listed at $119,500.
The black one is a 1972 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS Spyder which was listed at $124,500.

Though both were sold a short while back - Auraraptor's (Omar's) point is 100% valid - Stunning, prestigious cars without the sacrilege of cutting metal or, relatively speaking, pocketbooks. To me, other examples would be worth seeking out, let alone worth every penny.

The Ghibli spyder is a gorgeous car but I think I still prefer an E type.

    I think I've decided to refurbish my 308 targa & get an F40 :)

Those are nice looking cars - Remind me of older Corvettes for some reason, but a bit more elegant. Very nice.

A one-off Zagato-bodied Ferrari or a Chinetti special. Along the lines of this discussion, I wonder why no one has created/chopped a Pantera into a spider. Has anyone ever seen or heard of one? There would seem to be plenty of donor cars out there.

That would be a really difficult thing to do, if not the least very expensive. With the monocoque construction, you'd be cutting away body support and rigidity. There were factory targa Panteras produced for DeTomaso by Pavesi, though they are very, very rare. However, they do look sharp.

The Ghibli is a beautiful car. saw one just recently at the detail shop right near my house. I was thinking a while back about getting one. The only thing I don't like about it is the V8 sounds to much like an American muscle car V8. Not that there is anything wrong with that sound, just not in this car.
