I'm about to purchase a set of nice shields for my mondial but the stated measurements don't seem right (to me), If you have a Mondial, please go out to your garage and measure just the height and width, and give her a pat on the fender for me.

    please report back

    TIA!

No Mondials ever came from the factory with shields. You could mock up shields out of paper in the sizes you can find available and stick them on to see which you like best.

Thanks PV, I am aware that they didnt come with them but i have a line on a nice pair for mine and I just want to confirm the HxW of the ones you all have on the Mondial only. I'm finding different dimensions via google.

btw, my car is 800 miles away from me.

    Ted,
I love your avatar! I am always looking for a Ferrari related assignment, if we had shields I would measure them for you.

yea i've been thinking of an avatar for months, then this popped up and i stole it. I love it.

Thanks for your desire on the help btw. i just told my wife the news over lunch on purchasing a Ferrari, of course it gave her an excuse to go shopping just now:) i've been keeping this secret for a month and couldn't figure out how to surprise her with it so when she asked "what should we do for spring break", i just had to tell her the Ferrari plan, so maybe we'll see you in the Spring.

Hey, Even though I purchased a pair of Yoshi shields for Rachel (still in the original packaging) some time ago, I have yet to remove the magnetic shields that I've had for some years. FYI, I got them from John @ MA Carbon. They were low bucks yet very nice.

Since the Yoshi (s) have been on my desk for two years, da'ya think I should put them up for sale? Funny, they're so beautiful - - I even like them in my work space.........oh well.

The attached pic is Rachel wearing the $70 a pair shields.

Ted, I'm pretty sure the Yoshi Shields will measure 3 7/8". Hopefully Hank has tape handy.

ok, so that is the dimensions of the ones i'm purchasing but damn, these things are pretty small. Just 3" (?)
I will give Hank a chance to chime in.

    Thank you!

    Hi Ted,

4 inches, top point to bottom point. I was thinking that the curvature (contour) difference between the body panel shape and the shape of the "most" appropriate Yo-shield (type A) could cause a burp. I've been putting weights on the shields to "train them" so they will properly follow the panel contour but, like I said, I have yet to make the change.

Good luck - It shouldn't be all that hard to muddle through :):)

    Cheers,

    Hank

Well, 3 5/8" for mine. Or go for the extra 1/4" height of the Yoshi Shields. If you choose the vinyl stickers I bet you could have those printed in almost any size.

Make that an extra 3/8" for the Yoshi. That might be worth doing if you are concerned they will appear too small on the fender.

    Hey Jim,

The magnetic shields that I got from John @ MA Carbon, were quite substantial in every way. They were absolutely not "vinyl stickers" - - a horse of a different breed and color :):)

Hank, have you ever written Rachel Hunter to tell her about your love? Maybe she could give you some insight on 'Rachel' of the past and maybe a pic or two with her in it (??)

I'm writing the PO of mine (Chairman of Sony) to find out about missing service history and maybe some little facts that he would like to share about his relationship with "Andy" no, i'm not calling mine that but that is the PO's name :)

    Hank,

I was not talking about the MAcarbon shields - just the vinyl shields I have seen. Sounds like yours are something much nicer.

    Hi Jim,

True, the MAcarbon shields are much nicer than any vinyl shields that I've seen. And at the asking price for these, if one simply wanted a very attractive shield that didn't break the bank, I would say, "check'em out". :):):)

    Cheers,

    Hank

LOL my wife walked in while I was on ebay car search for a 4 passenger car that "drove right" and fit the budget I had in mind after I burnt rings in Bertone x1/9. After looking at many new cars at dealers that were too expensive, did not have enough room, and/or did not drive right I was looking for a Fiat or Alfa Sedan coup or wagon and had clicked all Italian cars and the Mondial showed up. She asked what I was looking at and I showed her the yellow car that sat four, had 2 trunks, would likely "drive right" and was 2/3 price of new Dodge Charger we had test drove that did not "drive right". She asked "would you drive it" I said "of course" She said "go for it" Next I am sitting thinking did I hear my wife righ,t I think she said go buy a Ferrari, 3 years and 13000 miles later drove it to work today with a smile on face. The Mondial 8 "drives right,"
And 3 years later the Ferrari and a Jeep Compass rain car new is cheaper on purchase price and total cost including do it yourself maintenance when depreciation is included, than the Charger and between them do better than the Charger at either.
So my Ferrari purchase was under budget and over fun. Even if was not specifically looking for a Ferrari at the time.
But I have wanted a Ferrari since the late 70's when my dad said no deal on the damaged 308 I wanted to fix up and drive to high school. Something about the hundred or so feet of skid marks before it rear ended the car doing 70 in a 55 on I95.

Funny - similar situation...I was 14 or 15 ('94 or '95) and saw a pretty damaged 308 outside a salvage yard. I stopped in to find out how much - figuring I would fix it over the next few years and have it ready when I turned 17 - no dice - $35,000 with a salvage title. I asked three times because I didn't think the price could have been right (car was a bit over 10 years old). Didn't even have the chance to argue with the parents -

Well since I gave up much of my control on matters of home decor or the groceries we keep in the house, hell sometimes she dresses me since getting married, I have maintained the what, the why, the where's and the how's of all vehicle purchases. So when I get the bug its just a matter of time it becomes reality but to make it fun for both, we always make a road trip out of it. I.e. The surprise classic 69 Chevy pick up bought in Boise ID took a trip back through Yellowstone and slept under the stars in the back in the open bed. The surprise E55 sedan bought in San Diego took a drive through the grand canyon and down to Yuma AZ and then the had to have Yamaha Roadstar bought in Austin TX was a trip back for the two of us 2000 miles through the south up to WV and then home to Chicago. So as long as I make it fun then it doesn't matter how or why or what. I still own them all and to date its been 11 different trips. Now. A Mondial is waiting for the next adventure. I think this one will be more comfortable for her than the stiletto seat of the Roadstar. One day a surprise boat located in southern Italy that needs to come home to the US. :). That's a dream.
