A look at the calendar and the F12 time on market seems to suggest that whatever handling package upgrade Ferrari comes up with may be announced at Frankfurt this September.

Has anyone heard that this is the case? Is it time for a "HGTE" handling type package option?

My guess is that the list will look something like this.

    2015 488 GTB Geneva
    2015 488 GTS in Frankfurt.
    2016 FF M Geneva
    2017 F12 M Geneva
    2017 488 GTB "raw" Frankfurt
    2018 Cali T replacement Geneva
    2018 488 GTS "raw" Frankfurt
    2019 488 Replacement Geneva
    2020 FF M Replacement Geneva
    2021 F12 M Replacement Geneva

Do I know this for cartain - absolutely not. It's just my own view of the 8 year plan.

I think you're a couple years early on the "raw" cars.

Not if the 488 is due for replacement in early 2019, which it most likely is. Also, the Speciale was announced in the Fall os 2013, as the SA was announced in the Fall of 2014. This is why I think the raw 488GTB will debut in the Fall of 2017 and the first ones will hit the roads here in Europe in 2018. They won't debut the raw versions in Geneva, as they usually debut a new model, and they don't introduce two cars at the same time, and late 2018 is too late for the debut of the raw 488 GTB.

You have 2.5 years from announcement of 488 to announcement of the 488 s. How long was that gap in the 458? 4 years from what I recall. That's all I'm basing my thoughts on.

458 announced in 2009 first deliveries 2009 and replacement announced in 15 w deliveries in 15. Based on that timeline alone 2019 is too early for a 488 replacement it would be more like 2021.

Are you thinking they'll replace the 488 on a faster cycle considering it is a modification of the 458 or do you think they'll go to a 5 year rotation?

The timeline has changed since the 458 and Cali release and the old 5 year plan. From the FF and on, and from what I've been told, they run by an 8 year plan that is divided into 4+4 years, and that goes for all cars.

So without spider and special models.

    2009 Cali
    2010 458 Italia
    2012 FF
    2013 F12
    2014 Cali T
    2015 488GTB
    2016 FF M
    2017 F12 M
    2018 Cali T replacement
    2019 488 GTB/GTS Replacement
    2020 FF M Replacement
    2021 F12 Replacement

Most of these, if not all of these cars will be Geneva debut cars.

The Soeciale was announced in earl 2013, and debuted in late 2013. That's about 3.3 years from the 458 release, under the old 5 year plan. Under the new 4+4 year plan, 2.5 years for the debut of the 488 raw model is not that far off. You have to remember, I'm talking about the debut, not the announcement. The announcement of a particular model does not necessarily go by a schedule, like the official launches of the cars. And the launch is usually what you talk about, when you talk about which year the model is originally from.

Just seems too tight to me. People are still waiting on ordered new 458 italias. Why cut a run down to 4 years when orders are still coming in and development costs can be spread out after 4. It'll be interesting to see what they do as it's all just theory up to this point.

Too many variants in too short of a time means the excitement just wears off..

It is far more than a package. It is a substantial change.

Correct. I was already approached by my dealer back in December 2014. 700 units to be produced … no more info on the car (not even last Saturday at the Geneva motor show when I talked to them).

I was also approached by my dealer in January. It's gonna be a limited production car (I was not given any number) but the GTO badge seems to be confirmed.

I would be surprised if they use the GTO badge again. Nevertheless will be interesting to see.

I have been invited to sign a reservation paper with F12 GTO on it... Appart from that, no way to get any additional info on the car. Let's wait and see.

Really curious to see what will happen to the 599GTO market value if they start using the GTO badge as a marketing tool.

It will certainly not change my view and feeling of the 599 GTO. Love that car unlike any other car I've owned. It is a magical car. The F12 won't change that.

But if Ferrari starts using the GTO badge randomly I will be very disappointed. As to the value of the 599 GTO … I still believe that this car is destined to go up in value as time goes on. It's just too special … and people realize that … with or without an F12 GTO in the product line.

    Cheers,

    M

I share your feeling Tim. Don't understand why Ferrari would badge this one a GTO again. But who are we to say they can't or won't. They are in full control. Just very disappointing …

Maybe they will call it the La GTO ;)

Will there ever be a F12 with 2+2 seats?
