Hi, can anyone tell me if a Testarossa transaxle be used in a 512 BB .
Not without a massive amount of fabrication to the case. Dry sump testarossa to drysump BB is a PITA taking it one step further to put one in a wetsump car adds new meaning to the term time consumption
I will be converting a 512 tens to use in my 365. A friend off mine is looking for a 512BB transition genes the question. So it would fit to the engine and clutch housing ? Nick
Ive heard of the conversion before and Ive seen one in a 365 but its crazy to do. Theres a 365 boxer trans on ebay right now and has been for some time. Do you have the 365 bell housing? 512 is different because it (365) has a cable rather than hydraulic clutch control. Testarossa is different again. The rear motor mount plate is different on the 365 because the rear of the gearbox is unique. The 512 trans will require the 512 rear mount plate.
The aluminum casting / cover that supports the rear of the power train is specific to the 365 box and won't fit a 512 box. I'm not sure if the bellhousing from the 365 will fit a 512 box and rear cover but there's a good chance it will.
newman, could you please put a link of this ebay 365 transmission here? I can not find it, only a transmission for 365 front engine, but no BB. or is it not in anymore?
Trutlands has one, currently only listing a 512 box on ebay so give them a call. I mentioned it in the other thread about gearboxes
