Simple question. My guess is most definitely - due to the fact that there is just so much money to be made in them. But I'm starting to think that this won't happen until long after Lucas has passed.

    Anyone have any insight?

i hope george lucas does installments 7, 8, and 9, but it's doubtful. if they're made after he's passed, i don't think they'd be the same as if he were behind the camera. however, i think this new star wars movie that came out is kind of a testing ground to see what would be out there should he do them, so it's possible, i'd put it at 75 he's not going to do it and 25 he will do it. regardless even if all 3 are the worst movies ever made, they'll still probably hit the 4-500 million dollar mark at the box office.

Lucas needs to hang it up and let someone else make Star Wars movies. Episodes 1-3 were an abomination compared to the originals. The guy simply doesn't know how to make a good movie anymore--there is too much reliance on CGI, poor story lines, horrendous dialogue, and worse acting.

Seriously. You can tell he is loosing his grip on what does and does not make a good movie. Heck, what is regarded as the far out best of the franchise he did not even direct; The Empire Strikes Back.

If I could have my way, I would want either Chris Nolan or Bryan Singer or Zack Snyder to do a StarWars movie.

Lucas seems to be afraid of becoming irrelevant and that is why we will continue to see Star Wars 'movies'. I think the cash is a distant factor for him.

Now they may be all CGI because he's also a control freak and socially inept/dysfunctional. Hes most comforatable sitting in the Ranch directing someone at a computer terminal. Clone Wars is the testing ground for what he sees as the future of SW...if its a success we'll see a lot more of that.

For me SW died after Jedi (and that wasnt exactly a masterpiece). EP 1-3 were more like big budget Saturday Afternoon Kids shows than real movies. They are enjoyable in their own way but they lack the depth of EP 4-6.

I'm in fear of a remake. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if someone tries this 20 years from now.

Episodes 7-9 would be interesting if you set them perhaps 20-30 years after ROTJ. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher could reprise their roles for early in Episode 7, then pass the torch to a new generation of actors/characters. Maybe the new villian kills them off.

Chewbacca could be in the new movie, wookies live a lot longer than humans.

They would have to have a compelling villian however.

 There's one in the theaters right now. If you're wondering what the next installments of Star Wars movies will be well, they won't be live action, that's for sure.

apparently, lucas already has 7-9 written, he at least had an idea for all the movies, 1-9 when he released the original 3. it'd be interesting to find out at the very least what his ideas are.

The republic gets reformed...and Luke Skywalker gets turned to the dark side by an ancient sith. The story ends with Leia turning him back to the good side.

All this just highlights what a galactic pain in the ass Skywalkers are.

In an interview after the original (Ep IV), Lucas indicated that there were a total of nine films ... and the only characters common to all of them were the droids.

lol! i think it's a cool concept, but he'd better do it soon, it wouldn't be the same without mark hammill in luke skywalker's role, or carrie fisher as princess leia.

The 1st one was the only one I truly enjoyed. I even took my parents to see it when 1st released. Yeah, I also made them see “Jaws”. I still have an original Star Wars theater poster I got when the local movie house took it out of the display case. How much do you think I can get for it on EBay?

clone wars is a disappointment. if it is a precursor to what is still to come, then i am done with the whole series.

i was at the Hollywood premier of Star Wars with my parents . i still remember most of the movie from that one , big screen viewing.

his Art of movie making needs a tuneup, as Lucas has lost something.

    shame :(
