here is a pretty reliable source. and reading between the lines, you get an even shorter list of just fisi and jv...but thats just my opinion. http://www.planetf1.com/news/story_15546.shtml http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=27198&s=5
Hmmm, I would be surprised if Fisi got the drive. He has done little to make it to a big team ... but if he did I would be very interested to see how he went. I would take Mark Webber myself ... and hopefully he has the brains to do this and not waste his time with the underfunded Jaguar team. They do not need a David Coulthard, or though he would be easier to work with than their current driver duds (). JV knows the team ... and was once fast ... Pete
If they get Fisichella or J.V. I woiuld not be suprised if they went with Webber though. He is younger than the other two and he has shown that he can qualify well at times. I think if Williams goes with J.V., Fisi or Webber I think they will be in good shape.
Autocar reckon no chance for JV as Williams were totally pi$$ed off with him after 3 years, personally i'm not sure about Fisi, performances seem erratic, reckon Webbers got the job already but who else?
Ditto on Mark Webber. I've been high on him since his debut, and he seems to be giving off a vibe lately that he's not going to be at Jag next year. Couldn't really care less about the second seat, if it's down to those others. JV is a washed-up has-been, DC is a washed-up never-has-been, and while I like Fisi, I'm afraid he's been ruined by a career of driving crapwagons.
I'm hoping for a MW and GF team. That would nice. Also, do you think Sato is going to stay with BAR next year? Seems like his performances are poor. JV got canned over much less.
JV was supposed to be a number 1 and have that star quality ... and was a WC. Sato is doing great for a beginner ... I think!, the best Japanese driver so far, maybe. Pete
My thoughts are Webber and Alex Wertz.I believe the Mac test driver is free to go if he gets a drive. Jag were pursuing him before they signed Webber.
well, i think the webber question is still up for grabs. a couple mitigating circumstances: webber is managed by briatore, briatore likes money and follows everything bernie suggests to the letter. so he will either follow bernie's desire that jv come back to the sport and therefore either not allow webber to go, or will put a big price on his head. i am not sure williams will want to pay big for webber - not in frank's nature to do so. re jv's relationship with williams; yes he may have angered them by leaving them for bar, but there is at least mutual respect between the 2 parties, which is more than can be said for dc. lets not forget that williams does take people back who they think have a chance to shine - like mansell. and furthermore, i strongly suspect that jv is being pushed by bernie, and frank might use that as a bargaining chip for something else later on. re dc, not sure there is sufficient respect for him within williams. and there is the attitude towards taking a macca reject - which won't sit well with frank. but does make wurz attractive - even though he does not appear on the current list. re fisi; he is probably hurting his chances all over the place. given that he is in the sights of williams means he won't get that ferrari test until this issue is decided - which will disappoint him and may lead to poor drives, which in turn will not show well for williams. williams, will be weighing up the pairing, so if they do take jv as i suspect, will they want another 'elder statesman' or will they want to instead take a young charger to balance the ticket? dunno yet.
heres another one http://www.planetf1.com/news/story_15575.shtml they seem to think webber and coulthard will be driving for jag, so on the williams short list this leaves fisi and jv..... another article this morning said things are getting so ugly w/ ralf that he may not finish the season and jv coul dbe there by the canadian gp....
they said about a week ago that JV was off the list, and as far as DC they havnt been very precise. you know those formula one teams, always hush hush.
well jv is certainly winning the popular vote for the seat....if frank cares or thinks it might help his sponsorship issues.... http://www.autosport.com/newsitem.asp?id=27176&s=24
