I would like see Williams be a contender. This engine seems to have the power, maybe with a good chassis it can show its merit

Contract was signed yesterday between Sir Frank and John Howett . . .

It's a three year contract guaranteeing Williams the same specification of engines used by Toyota works team.

Sir Frank had this to say: "This agreement is the cornerstone of Williams' challenge for the world championship. Toyota is an impressive and remarkable industrial giant, with the most phenomenal reputation for achieving the goals it sets itself. We are proud to have secured their support in our efforts to return to our competitive best."

The confirmation of the Williams-Toyota deal means that Midland's two-year relationship with Toyota will come to an end this year. They are almost certain to switch to Cosworth next season.

My hope it that this will make the Williams much more competitive and Nico will have much better results!

Very interesting news. I give a lot of credit to Williams for trying new things.

If they are getting the same spec engines as the factory team, I predict they will out-do the factory team. I wonder how Toyota will react to that if/when it is the case.

Hopefully this will get the Williams team back with the fore-runners, which is where they belong.

^Agreed. A pretty big risk though. Toyota has shown commitment, but little in the way of results.

All Williams needs now is either Mike Gascoyne or Geoff Willis (Returning) to be a front runner once again. Hopefully they will pick up a Large Sponsor as well since they lost HP.

Could be tricky next year if Williams starts to outclass the Toyota team!
After spending millions over the last few years, Toyota could see that a 'private' team is the solution to their problems.
They should have been engine suppliers only from the begining and leave the running of a team to someone who knows what he is doing.
Let's face it, the current Toyota F1 outfit is very poor return for their investment.

So far, yes, it has been disappointing for a factory team. I do give them credit for the attempt, though.
