I'll be there, sadly without a car....missing a motor. I'd have to start pushing it there now. ;-) Dogdish Image Unavailable, Please Login
What's going on this weekend? (I'm gonna be in town). There is some F12 dinner at silverleaf...C&C? What else? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pietro, Thanks It was modified way back in the 80's. I'll keep the flares, correct them at some point in the near future. I'm in the process of fixing and cleaning up 25 years of storage. Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Bill, I was wondering how the Daytona was doing. Looks like you are missing more than an engine, I do not see any suspension either. My project is going slow, but it has started moving again. Picked up a 19% improvement in flow on the intakes and a healthy improvement on the exhaust. The photos below show the de-coked head, roughed out exhaust ports, and the new intake valve compared to the stock valve. Jim and Pietro, Now that we have completely hijacked Agup's Windgate thread, at least we are keeping it up top. I will be there doing registration again. Hope to see both of you there. Holy cow, nice intake valves, Jim. I assume a change in lift, duration and compression ratio to take advantage. Any problems with the heads besides 40 years of use? More photos if possible. Some time in the near future, we will have to get all the old iron out on one day for some photo ops . Lets have Steve arrange it. The suspension is off. Cleaning, painting, replating, and new bushings everywhere. Had new front rotors made. Putting a brake balance bar in with Griling masters. Photo below. Bill Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thankfully Southwest doesn't let Dogdish near their airplanes with tools or all of their 737's would be disassembled.......
Another bump. Hope Agup doesn't mind. Brake balance bar is looking cool. Looking forward to seeing you and the Daytona again. I would like to see more photos too. For the engine mods, I bumped up the lift of the cams but slightly shortened the duration. This keeps the strong bottom end torque by reducing overlap but also improves the top end with the additional lift and valve size. I had to be careful to keep the max power RPM down, at one point I was looking at 8200 RPM (I was also predicting QV DD power numbers too, which was tempting). The earlier valve closing give me an effective increase in CR without changing pistons or milling the heads. The actual CR is almost the same, the bigger valves increased it 0.1. The heads are like new, they may be old but they only have 14K miles on them. Some more photos of the insanity. Engine removal, flow bench testing, before and after mods to the valve seats. I don't mind one bit. Like I said a few posts prior, it's one of those things that we rarely see. Can't wait for Windgate! Hope to see lots of cars out there!
Jim, Looks great. Those heads are in great shape. Hope mine look that good when removed. I get a bit nervous seeing an orange hoist holding a really BIG engine/tranny combo. Again it looks great....my parts are finally coming back to me, all pretty. Start putting suspension together soon. I'll get some more photos soon. Out working to pay for parts. Bill
great thread! even if it was derailed. I just wish it was possible for you to bring that "work in progress" to the show! now that would draw attention. I'm looking forward to Windgate now!
What to bring what to bring. Hmmm some interesting new stuf in the museum. Well everyone liked the Birdcage and Osca last year let's see what head turners we can bring this weekend.
KTM Bring the old iron.....I liked the OSCA from last year, very cool car. Here are the latest photos of my project. Dogdish Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's looking great. Any left over parts after you put her back together? This weekend should be great at Windgate.
