Winding back Odometers.

As I recall, you can reduce the km's 3 times by a maximum of 500km each time. After that the ECU locks and you need a new one.

 

Actually he is right; but in only one model that I know of, and even then only a couple of model years. The very early TR's speedo/odometer could be disabled by pulling a fuse as I recall. Then again, a testarossa doesn't have any ECU's

 

964/993 porkers relied on a fuse for the instruments.

 

I didn't realise the ecu locked after the 3rd go, I thought it only allowed a limited number of changes and then prevented you doing any more.

How do I turn mine up. I've had my car back for coming up 12 months and have only done 6,000 miles. *sigh*

 

I'd hate to thing how many cars were wizzed in the 60s and 70s,i'd suggest most RR/Bentley cars copped it.

 

I have the 360 Modena workshop manuals and I read it in those if memory serves correctly. I also had the ECU's on my F50 read with the SD2 during a PPI at Dixon's and one of the staff confirmed the same thing. I still have the printouts somewhere, it's amazing what they show.
