Hi All, I'm new to this board, and have done a few searches for the information, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have a 1986 328 GTS and my passenger side window is stuck in the down position. I have removed the leather interior to examine the situation, and tried to move the motor, bypassing the cars electrical (no luck : (). I want to begin to take it apart, but want to make sure I can get it back together. Ideally, I would like to be able to test the window mechanism out of the car, to see, if it is the motor, an electrical or mechanical problem. Any tips, tricks, guidance to moving forward? Regards, Rob
I have had success gently tugging on mine upward when the motor slows or stops...there was a thread on overhaul but pics were lost in server crash...try a "search" and see if you can find it. The cable wraps thru the motor so I don't think you can "run" it out of the car to prove anything, all the resistance is removed! They probably ALL work great then.....LOL! Did the later cars come with the "Emergency window crank tool".....my 1977s have that!
See http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67861&highlight=328+window for a diagram of how that window lift works. You can remove the window motor and run it by itself to determine if it's good. You have to loosen the channel at the opening end of the door to remove the window once it's disconnected from the lift
