I have a 78 308 and I noticed that every time my window switches stop working, it is a result of the small white plastic "plungers" inside the switch. Usually when I take the switch apart, the two white pieces are getting smushed (looks like the heat is melting them) at their tips so, I scrape off the excess plastic, clean up the metal contacts and reassemble and it seems to work fine for a while. It's a pain in the butt having to take the switches apart every so often. Has anyone replaced this soft white plastic part with maybe a harder material? If so, what did you use? Any other suggestions to fixing the stock window switches?

No one here has addressed this problem? I can't believe it.

Had to do the same thing myself periodically and never pursued something different -- although had more trouble with the contacts oxidizing than the plastic bits.
