I would like to get the windows on my Infiniti G35 slightly tinted in an effort to stave off the upcomming Summer heat as well as help preserve the leather a bit. Where do you guys recommend I go, and what kind of tint do I ask for?

Lastly, like I said, I don't want to tint the car too much, so what is a good percentage to go for?

"Tunes" on Vets. They charge a fee that can be considered "mid-pack". They use Llumar tint (the BEST metallic tint, never accept anything like 3M for auto tinting) and they have a lot of experience applying it. Of the various tint jobs I have had performed on multiple cars and at several tint shops, Tunes has done the best job.

The LA state limit is 50% for front, which is wayyyy too light in my opinion -- barely any tinting at all. If I were you I would go with 35% on the front windows and 20% on the rear quarters and rear hatch. That is what I had on my first Z and it is what I was most satisfied with. It is light enough to see into during the day, dark enough to not see into at night without pressing your face to the glass, and shady enough inside to keep the temp inside your car down.

Ah yes, 'Tunes'. They are the people who do all of the audio install work on the Cash Money Crew. I once stopped by there and Mannie Fresh had a Bently drop-top getting $30,000 worth of work done to it over there.

So the state law says 50% is the max, so how do I go about getting the tint as per your suggestions? I am assuming that they will go ahead and do it, but not give me a receipt, or something along those lines, right?

Maybe this tint will keep my car from being the hottest during the Summer.

BTW, check out my thread in the 'cars' section of Off Topic, I got the situation with my damaged car taken care of. Talk to ya later Rich, you worthless bastard!

John, If you opt to go darker than legal keep in mind they may use a "light meter" on it when you go for your inspection sticker (brake tag). More likely in Orleans Parish since it was farmed out and the stations are afraid of losing their new cash crop.

I didn't consider this. Being that my car is relatively new, I need to get an inspection sticker. So I will go ahead and get my sticker taken care of before getting the tint.

John, They will get you when you go for renewel. When I had my Saleen Mustang the tint was almost solid black on the front and it was check with the light meter but that was when Orleans Parish ran the inspection station and there were "alternatives" nowadays with the inspections done at city licensed gas stations they are stricter because they get a cut of the $20.00 fee and don't want to lose their license to collect money.

John, get the darker tint if you want and get your Brake Tags at the Shell station in Lakeview on the corner of Harrison Ave and Argonne Blvd. They barely check anything for a tag and probably don't even own a light meter! My son brought his Miata there and the guy did a "walk around" on his car, asked for the money and put on the sticker!

    Good Luck,
