    Hey FChat,

I’m doing miscellaneous small tasks on my new F430. Here’s how I restored window trim. According to past owner, when he added UV protectant film on inside of glass the shop got a chemical on the trim which caused it to wrinkle.

    <20 min job

I used 50% distilled water + 50% 90% isopropyl on the corner of a microfiber rag to clean off the wrinkled layer. It came off in a powdery flake.

I used “Solution Finish Black Trim Restorer” afterwards. Purchased on Amazon.

I tried used a microfiber sponge for this chemical but it was less precise than using the corner of a microfiber rag, so I went back to the rag.

I made sure to get the tape under the trim. I also used a flathead behind the dry rag to make sure I cleaned any dye off of the bottom of the seal before it made contact with the leather again.

    It came out great.

BE SURE TO PROTECT THE LEATHER - the restorer is a black dye. Wear gloves, and change them as needed to ensure gloves don’t have dye splatter/soak-through on them.

I know of the Honda shin etsu grease from many years with my Honda S2000. It’s great but I suggest to use minimal amounts…. Don’t smear it like a NY bagel.

Different type of products...one is a stain and the other is more a protectant

I use the product mentioned here a few years in hard plastic on my bmw convertible cover .. it last long and looks.liwk.new even though it was neglected for year and turned whitish gray

The product is more preservative that I use in my rubber
