any Windows Mobile geeks in the crowd? i just switched from Palm to WM (WM5 on a Treo 750) and i'm new to the whole WM thing. tasks and notes on outlook are "bearable" but they suck on the handset. quite unmanageable. dumb sort options for tasks. no way to order notes by category (i've got hundreds from my Palm years). what are the alternatives? are there good sites for really deep tips-and-tricks for the factory stuff? what do people use for a mail client? the built in one sucks - i have 4-6 mail accounts to check - it seems as though i have to do each one manually instead of saying "just check 'em all". plus i can't find any pop options to "leave mail on server" (i guess they assume you're on IMAP, but i'm not entirely so). tia, doody.
I wish I could help. I've been tempted to give one a try for a while now. Right now im holding out for the iphone. If it doesnt deliver. WM is my next stop. Give us updates though on how it is. It would be nice to hear from someone who has palm experience.
i'm first on the list for an iPhone at my local Cingular store. i got the 750 instead. i have major doubts that the iPhone is gonna be all that and a bag of chips until the get to version 2. i was able to transition to WM from Palm and didn't lose any functionality. no major trauma. but you have to re-learn all sorts of little things. it's non-trivial, but easier than i thought it would be. i still have plenty of learning curve to get up. WM is just not as "polished". everything is one extra menu or button click or whatever. it's not as slick as Palm OS. but the browser is GREAT and syncing is FAST and the phone is lighter with no antenna and it's GSM instead of CDMA so i can leave the country with it. and so on and so forth. doody.
Doody, I don't think you have a Dell Axim (which is what I have) but they both use WM. Go to www.aximsite.com. The forum is huge and there are tons of questions about software. i can't remember the mail client I was using in leiu of the one that comes with it, but there was some recommendations there and if you do a search or browse the forum I'm sure you can find a few gems. G'luck
