As you know when you open the door on the 360 coupe the window comes down a bit. But sometimes it doesn't. Also when I turn off the car it doesn't sometimes. Then I turn the key and hit the window button and it'll come down into the position it is supposed to before I get out. Since the car is in the garage I don't always alarm lock it, maybe I should? Is there a system I'm missing here? Maybe faulty electronic? Thnx.

What happens is there is a switch in the interior handle and a switch in the door lock in the door itself. One of these is likely sticking.

When you pull the inner/outer door handle, this "announces" to the computer that you're going to enter the car and the window drops.

When the door is open and the switch in the lock mechanism in the door is "open", the car thinks that the door is open and the window doesn't go down.

If any of these switches are sticking open or closed... you can get a window that won't go down or stay down. The key is to figure out which one it is.
Window goes down with outer door handle - outer swich ok.
Inner handle drops the window when pulled - inner switch OK
If neither of the above drops it when its acting up.. consider the switch in the door lock mechanism.

Thank you so much for that answer. I had no idea there were two switches. It's strange sometimes the outside handle works sometimes not. Same with inside. If one of the switches is off do I have to reset at dealer or can I do myself?

Again, I'm not 100% sure on which one it is without seeing the car and working through it, but it sounds like the switch in the inner door lock is sticking (in the door by the lock and the striker plate assembly). These usually are replaced although I've used a squirt of lubricant on them once or twice in the past. Happened twice in my Boxster when the door switches went. :(

If you look at the diagram on table 117 in the modena catalog on ricambi:http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?M=FE&P=&V=diag&I=632

you can see two switches, # 34 and 73, these are the switches in the inner and outer door handles. There is one more switch in #4 that tells the car when the door is open/closed. I suspect that this swtich is the one that is sticking closed/open.

To get at this and the other two switches, you have to open the door panel to get at them. The switch for the inner handle is quick and easy to get to. The others are more work. Before you commit to this I'd get a mechanic to at least confirm it. There are some pretty good write ups on here that detail how to open the door and get things out. Will be a few hours/weekend morning/afternoon. Parts are expensive and I'd confirm the switch in the door before ordering and doing yourself/contracting it out. It can be done. :)

I am probably missing the obvious but how do you guys clean the lower portion of your windows? Everytime I open the door, the window goes down a bit making it impossible to clean the entire window. What am I missing?

There must be an easier way to clean the windows other than getting inside the car, closing the door, then washing from the inside of the car???

If you close the latch with the door opened, the window will go up so you can clean it. Just remember to lift the handle to open the latch before trying to close the door.

    Thanks Periokid! That is helpful!

I guess I am not that stupid after all since it appears I am not the only one who has dealt with the same issue.

That's a good idea. I would be afraid that I would leave the door latched when I close the door! I have a bad memory, not a good idea for me. I would rather just lock myself in the car for a minute or two.
