    Seems like the heat in SOCAL turned a 2 inch crack in the windshield into a full blown 2 foot crack going across. Not safe to drive anymore. I already contacted Safelite Glass. But was wondering if anyone had any other F-chat approved vendors.

    Can anyone recommend a good shop for a Windshield Replacement in Irvine, Ca or surrounding areas?

    Hi Vipermann,

    I learned about Safelite the hard way when I needed a new windshield + installation for my 328GTB a few years ago. Not impressed with Safelite (at least the company here in San Diego) - they completely mangled the $$$ trim piece surround and tried to force the windshield into the opening, cracking the glass. Evidently not all 308/328 glass fits every 328, but they couldn't care less. Safelite were total amateurs who wouldn't take ANY responsibility.

    On a recommendation from Gary Bobileff, I ended up using Clear Perfection Auto Glass in Costa Mesa (283 Avocado St., Costa Mesa, CA 92627). I used Ferrari of OC for the glass - they had to order/reorder three different windshields to get one that fit. They were great about it though. The guy at Clear Perfection did a great job installling it and the metal trim surround. He mitered the trim pieces very precisely - looks better than factory new. Highly recommended!
