Tim Newman, the music video pioneer behind ZZ Top, Robert Plant, and the infamous Randy Newman "I Love LA" video has opened a wine and cheese shop in the Berkshires. (Remember that Dodge in the I Love LA video? that's his car). I figure that since he's a big car guy, we love to drive and buy wine we should do a day-trip up to his place. We can take advantage of his hospitality, create a Ferrari ruckus outside his shop for the locals, buy some wine and cheese and then split...

It's allegedly about 90 minutes from NYC and would be a perfect run. we can even push this back to the fall a tad so that the roads into the mountains can clear out after the summer lounging season.

    What do you think?

30 minutes from NYC? It is not in the Berkshires then. The Berkshires are about 3 hours out.

I think Emil wrote a 90 min ETA, and you have to remember that 65mph is resting speed for this bunch! ;-)

I'm in for this - love the Berkshires.

As for distance, I usually make Great Barrington in about 2-2 1/2 hours, driving rapidly by most peoples' standards but tamely by this crowd's standard.

90 minutes to Great Barrington would be flying (and would guarantee a ticket along the stretch of speedtraps that make the last 20 miles) but I wouldn't be surprised if there are parts of the Berkshires that are further south and closer to parkways where 90 minutes is attainable.

Nope, not gonna happen. Why? I'll tell you:

    - My car is not done getting all purdied up

    - I'm too cranky to think about having fun

    - After Paris, there is no cheese in the USA. :)

Plan is we head up early Friday afternoon on 11/5, pass for some cheese and very little wine, head up to my place (or hotel) in VT. Do a run early Saturday to Hemmings Motor News, come back, do a little shopping to appease the women and make one hellova meal at my place for dinner, drink wine, play pool and pass out till Sunday morning. Sunday have brunch and drive back to NY whenever.

    C'mon, who's with me???

I've been wanting to take the 308 on a long run. If she's not in the shop getting her major, I'm probably in.
