Thanks, I feel better already. I actually got some of my best lap times, the car ran great, and I got to hang out with great friends. Nuth'n but fun!

It started with a nice drive to work friday and then I left a bit early to get to the track to go through tech. After tech I went over to our paddock space and unloaded the wine (Italian). The assembled group was having sufficient fun that we never made it to the organized party.

Saturday the driver meeting was at 7:30 as the overly full event made it a full day. Practice was nice and the car felt very good. The qualifying race was a bummer as I could not get around a AC Bristol. Eventually I dropped way back so I could at least get a clean lap in an came up with a 2:20 plus a few hundredths, as good as I can do.

Sunday morning the car felt very quick so I was disappointed in the afternoon when Bristol held and extended his lead on me. In the end the four SZ's entered were all over the map. Alan Frick with a 2:04 lapped me in the nineth lap finishing seventh, Sandy McNeil was around fifteenth with 2:12's, I was thirty-first, and Esta Swig was thirty-fourth, a lap and half behind me. An MGA twin-cam was running behind me and half way through the race he found a couple seconds somewhere and started catching me. After a couple of laps with him in the mirror I thought about being stuck the day before and waved him by. I think Al Leake in a his fast Giulietta spider was fouth.

Soon thereafter we broke out the wine again. Then an easy drive home, chased by the CHP once, and then a nice dinner with the family. - George

Browsed thru Wine Country pics and remember seeing a lot of these cars last year at the WCC. Looks like a lot of regulars assemble every year to race and have fun. Did they have the Gurney Eagle out near the official souvenier stall like last year?

The maroon 250 SWB was raced to a class victory by Bobby Rahal at Laguna last year.... my favorite of the show along with the pontoon TR.

Great sighting of the McLaren F1. That wasn't there last year - shucks!!! Is this Larry Ellison's ex-car by any chance?

The SWB was eleventh in my race which says something about the pace of the front runners. That is a flat out gorgeous car, and is fantastic to run with on the track. I sounds as good as it looks (too bad I had a helmet muffling the sound!)

I don't know who the owner of the F1 was, but for a modern car it has no peer (IMO).

    Cheers,
    George
